2" on a shock sitting on the table isn't helpful. We need to ascertain how much is free with the car sitting on the ground. Given the wheel-rate I think we'd want to see an absolute minimum of 1.5".
OK I'll check it out. Steeda's instructions for both the 0.5" drop and the 1.0" drop rear springs both say trim 1" off the factory bump stops so I thought that should be plenty but who knows.

Remember peeps.. those GT350R springs, are handling a lot less unsprung/sprung weight.

Wasn’t going to do any shocks but got a good deal from a 6G member on the rears, and read posts complaining about the rear PP1 shocks but saying the struts are OK.
Did you buy new or used shocks?

I had ProActions on the rear for a long while and they controlled my 880lb/in rear springs without drama. If you bought used shocks, they may be blown.

Good call on the possibility of this.
I suppose anything is possible but I bought them from a well-known 6G member who said they had 15K miles on them and he was selling because he was changing his rear setup. Would hate to think he was selling because he knew they were not working properly. If reducing the tire pressure doesn't help with the bouncing I'll put the stock shocks back on and see what it feels like. Honestly though I'm more upset about getting a 7/8" front drop when I was expecting 1/2".

Bumpstops? Which Steeda shocks?
Did a little more reading and found some confusing info on bumpstop trimming.

BMR min drops are 7/8" front / 1/2" rear, and they say trim 3/8" front / 5/8" rear from the factory bump stops.

Steeda min drops are 1/2" F / R and they say trim 1" F & R, a LOT more than BMR which has a bigger drop?

And then Steeda sport springs are 1-1/8" F / 1" R drop but they said trim the same 1" from the bump stops as the 1/2" drop spring.

I'm totally confused.

he may have not recognized they were shot. Or the shocks are fine. I drove a Magneride Bullitt with 13k miles. It was total crap. I strongly suspect the shocks on that car were blown to hell. Unfortunately miles is not a good indicator of condition.

IMO bump stops are evil and hard ones double. They should be just long enough to provide some deceleration before reaching end of stroke and metal on metal impact occurs. So in my book 30mm is about that limit.

I checked the tire pressures this morning and while the TPMS were reading 37-38 psi, I was measuring 34.5-ish. So that can probably be ruled out as the reason it feels bouncy. Hate to go through the process of putting those rear stock shocks back on, I'm still sore from yesterday's spring install :cwl::facepalm:

How accurate is your gauge? I've found the tpms to be within 1 psi of a calibrated gauge.
Checked again with a different gage that reads more closely to the TPMS, so I let about 3-4 lbs out of each tire. We'll see how much that helps.

I contacted the guy I bought the shocks from and explained what it felt like and that you guys suspected they might be worn out and he offered to take them back for a refund. Very cool of him.

What rear shocks would you recommend for pairing with the 815 lb rear springs if I were to buy replacements?

Every time I see this I'm amazed at how (unnecessarily) firm those PP rears are on compression, and just barely enough on low speed rebound.
Some things never change. Rear shocks on my '08 S197 were the same way, high speed bump damping was way, way too firm.

Conveniently one of Brian's recommendations LOL! PM me what you'd like for them.

I might be the first person to ever say thank God I put the stock PP1 shocks back in. it rides SO much better - no more bouncing. When I first installed the Steedas it took no effort to push them down to hook under the pins in the wheel well but I thought that was normal. Well, it was all I could do to compress the PP1 shocks to reinstall them. Took about 5 times as much force. Never even considered they could be shot with only 15K miles on them. Thanks for the tip guys!
