Hi there

I just got my renewal from Famous Insurance and they have almost doubled by quote to $2000 ! (it has a modifed exhaust)

I phoned to check and it's not a mistake.

Already got a quote from Aami for 1350 but without the modified exhaust there are lots of quotes around 900.

Can anyone recommend an insurer?

Thanks

Jesus. Maybe my age is a factor in the price? Ive never made a claim in the 10 years of having my policy.

Try Shannon's for sure; I have way more mods listed than just an exhaust with them too.

If you do Shannons and need to claim make sure you don't get pushed down the Smartrepair path

I just switched over to Shannons after 34 years with NRMA.

Premium is less (will no doubt get jacked next year), agreed value is significantly higher & they don't charge any extra for monthly payments. All of the options that I had with NRMA (choice of repairer, excess-free glass replacement and hire car). No problem with declared mods (only a cat back in my case).

The girl from NRMA said that she could reduce my premium to something similar if I removed some of the options :giggle:.

No thanks.

After I cancelled, she thanked me for my loyalty (not sure if taking the piss).

Ryno are worth a try. 1300 650 670 I have used them for the Gt Falcon and now the Mustang and you can certainly have mods if you wish.

I swapped to APIA from 17 years with Budget direct - $786 pa ($65.45 pm) with $49.5K Cover. They do not charge extra for monthly payments, offer great service (unfortunately I had a small claim when I was sideswiped on my front bar recently), and according to their application online, do not regard Exhaust or CAIs as "Modifications" - only draw the line at Supercharging.
