Why are vins cancelled?
I don't know all the reasons, but the last one that was cancelled was a Base car with painted stripes, it was replaced with a new VIN for a CFTP with painted stripes, both to the same dealer. I think the dealer was also the customer. They were the last 2 VINS to be issued, 3143 & 3134. The rest of them were a mix of Base and CFTP cars.
The cancellations may just be a case of wanting to change the color or some other option that could not be changed and the only way for the dealer to get what he wanted was to cancel the VIN and use his allocation for a car that he needed.

There are 3144 issued VINs, so if they still plan on producing 5000 2020's, that would leave 1856 potential VINs. I don't know how many total allocations were awarded, so that would be the determining factor.

Out of the 3144 issued, 43 VINs have been cancelled (23 Factory and 20 Retail/Stock).

Now the big question How many cars are on the " list' awaiting those remaining 1900 vINS ? With 1900 VINS unassigned an and 1300 with VINS assigned and not produced that makes 3200 which are limbo cars. Pretty late in MY for that. MY obviously needs to be extended. What implications would that have on 2021 MY or are those plans scrapped?

Excellent questions, Vern, but I doubt anyone here knows the answers or, if they do, they're remaining mum.

To my uneducated brain, 3200 seems like a whole lot of vehicles for almost the first of June. Let's just hope for a whole bunch of VINs to be released since Ford has indicated that all VINs will be produced as ordered which I presume includes the MY.

How may cars can they produce a day? I know they say the Rouge plant rolls off an F150 every 53 seconds. Wouldn't take too long to get them done at that pace.

Saw a disclaimer to folks that ordered a Vette in 2020 that their allocation may not be produced this MY and they would get a 2021 model. Hope like hell that this is not the case here. Although GM did have the strike then slid into the Covid mess.

@Snoopy49 Earl, as always, thank you for the great information and all the hard work that you do. We would be lost without you!!

5000 total - 3144 VINS produced = 1856 future VINS , - 1361 Scheduled VINS not produced = 495 unscheduled hold or clean + 43 cancelled VINS = 538 TOTAL UNSCHEDULED HOLD/CLEAN WITHOUT VINS , does this sound right or am I missing something.
I think your missing something. If there have been 3144 total VINs issued and they planned for 5000 cars, then that would leave 1856 unissued VINs to be used for allocated Unscheduled/Material Hold or Clean orders in the order bank.

But out of 1856 didn't you say 1361 of them have VINS?
None of the 1856 potential orders in the order bank have VINs

5000
Allocations (possible VINs) minus 3144 VINs that have been issued equals 1856 VINs that have not been issued.

5000-3144=1856

I said I like the post with the numbers but I dont like the reality of the whole mess. I sold my GT 350 today in anticipation figuring it wont sell to well in December. (anticipated delivery of GT 500 IF LUCKY) As a result I am now Mustangless for the first time sine 1996. Unsched since Jan with an initial priority code of 10.

Vern, join the club . I’ve been unscheduled since July 7 with a priority code 10. Next week I’m pulling the plug on my order. I’ve had it with Ford.

When was the last time you checked your order status?

Last week Snoop. My dealer was pushing their rep for at least a VIN , zero response from Ford. Dealer sold me his allocation and I feel there is a reason my Car is not scheduled. I’ve seriously lost interest in this car and Ford.

Is it still listed as Unscheduled/ Material Hold? I have seen that a few of the members cars are now Unscheduled/Clean which is one step away from a VIN.

It is still unscheduled material hold. The only thing the rep told my dealer is the car would be built before the end of the year. The GT 500 is a nice car...but no way will I ever wait 18 months for a car and further put up with the games that Ford seems to be playing . My dealer is relatively small but is in a very prime location , he had an allocation and sold the car to me..the dealer is legit..Ford is not in this case.
