I'm looking for a bias ply front runner to use on my performance pack car with Brembos. I see M&H has a 18" bias ply front runner, but it states that the max wheel width is 4". The Racestar wheels I'm looking at are 18" x 5". Will the M&H 4.5" wide front runner work with a 5" wheel width? Are there other options for a bias ply front runner? Rears will be bias MT ET Street R if it matters.

M&H has a few horror stories of blowouts... probably cause by the wrong rim size like you say..lol
We dont have many options with 18" feont runners. 2 options I know of. A 26 or 28" radial. I run the MT 28" radials on mine with bias ply rears

I've never driven on any drag tires at the track, but I hear that I need a bias front to go with the bias rear. How is the sway with a radial front runner?

Yes there is some sway if you leave full size radials on the front... but with skinnys its much better.. the only sway is when you let off hard at the end of the track. But your prepared for it. I pump them up to 23psi on the street and they are much better.

Thanks for the help. Now I'm debating between Hoosier bias front runners and Hoosier DOT slicks vs MT radial front runners and MT ET Streets. The Hoosier bias front runners list the 5" wheel as max width. Everyone here seems to swear by the ET Streets, but it's nice that Hoosier offers a bias ply combo suited for the wheel choices I'm left with. The other decision is whether to get a 9.5" rear wheel or a 10.5" when I'm planning to get a 28x11.50 rear. The 9.50 seems perfect for this tire size at first glance, but the 10.50 is almost the same price...

Mine 28x11.5s are on 9.5s if that helps. They fit good. Buy whichever front runners are 28". A 26" front skinny just looks silly to me on a s550.

Anyone use 17" x 9.5" wheels on the rear of a performance pack car? Just noticed on Lethal's website it only lists the 17" x 10.5" wheels for the performance pack. Do the 9.5" wheels clear the rear brakes?

I run the M&H bias ply 18" front runner on a 5" wheel. Dont feel like its stretching at all. Also have the street r bias ply in the rear and love the setup.

Yes mine are 9.5". Performance pack rear brakes are the same as a gt. You just need a 18" to clear the front brembos

Thank you and thanks to everyone who helped me with answers. I think I've settled on the 17x9.5 rear with MT ET Street R bias ply, and 18x5 front with the M&H bias front runners. Going with the MT/M&H combo over the Hoosiers to have DOT approved tires.
