1st Mods on 2020 GT500

I decided to go with the Shelby American aluminum fuse panel cover, brake reservoir cover, and coolant tank. I think they look pretty great on the Ford Performance Blue car, and complement the aluminum blower, and cam covers on the engine.

Incase anyone was interested in this factoid, the two covers are made by Moroso, and the coolant tank is made by C&E Racing.

Copy all, Mark and thanks. Any idea why the oil cap didn't fit? Surely the manufacturer must have heard about the issue by now. But leave it to you to solve the problem. <smiling>

I don't know if this GT500 engine in particular has a different size diameter threaded oil cap (it is slightly smaller) than other Mustang engines. The oil cap they supplied for the engine does fit my Ranger and Escape though so it is a Ford oil cap. Just doesn't fit this GT500. No problem though as I fabricated it to fit like I said. You can see where I glued in just the threaded part of the 500 cap to the larger headed cap they supplied.

Mighty fine work, Mark. What did you use to route out the cap, a Dremel and barrel sander?

That is exactly what I used. Went through two of the barrel sanders though.

Thanks buddy, and I hear ya on the carbon. My last car was all carbon, I wanted to do it differently this time around.

A little more under hood goodies went on today. After seeing Marks, and hearing some feedback, I decided to take off the filler extension and see if I like it. So far I do

I put a 90º on the overflow hose while I was at it.

I got a set. They looked like stickers so I sold them and had some custom ones made and again they also looked like stickers. Wanted something that wasn’t flat looking. Went with Ford caps that actually have an emblem in them.

I thought they were like the SVT caps on my 2013. For $200, I expected more.
Where did you get your caps?

I got them from Tasca Parts. They are genuine Ford caps but they don’t fit the OEM wheel. These are larger and they fit the signature wheels I have (after I modified them of course). Part# 9L8Z-1130-A $16.60

Are the coil covers on the GT500 same as GT350 or other mustangs? Would like to get some painted red as offered from some vendors, just wasn't sure if they are specific to GT500.

I know these are overlays, and not actual caps, but I am happy to have the option. Maybe everyone should just get Signature wheels

I had picked these up on eBay long before deciding to join the Signature family. The cobras come unattached from the center caps, they may look good on the factory center cap. Plus, it wouldn't be permanent. The shipping protective film is still on them, thats the bubbles you can see.
