Hi guys,

I'm wondering how I can maximise my battery life between drives, if I'm not driving very much?

I'm living in an apartment with a basement car park, so don't have access to a socket to run a trickle charger from.

Apart from disconnecting the battery terminal, are there any other things I need to consider to maximise the battery's life between drives?

One thought I had was if I bought one of those heavy duty batteries used to jump start a battery, and hooked that up to a trickle charger? That way I could trickle charge when not in use and take the heavy duty charger back up to my apartment once a week or so to charge it? Would this make sense? This would probably be easier than taking the battery out and carrying it up to my apartment all the time.

I'm looking to pick up a 2019 Bullitt in the coming weeks.

Thank you.

I wouldnt worry about that unless you plan to ignore the car for months. Take it out for a weekly drive and the alternator will keep your battery charged.

Thing is there may be a month or two at a time where I can't get out, so I'm planning ahead. I used to have this issue with a motor bike and it was a pita when I wanted to ride but had a flat battery.

Idk man, if you cant find 30 to 40 minutes per month to love the car, its probably not the right car for you.

Also if its months you wont be driving it, take out the battery.

Every time you remove / disconnect the battery the driving history/car monitoring data will reset. Living in an apt. this car will be a casual driver or you don't get out much?

Is there a light in the basement car park? If yes unscrew the bulb replace it with a screw in socket, plug into that. Any Home Depot type of store will have them.

I read on here someone saying that the battery can go flat after a couple of weeks due to all the electronics still being run even when the car is turned off.

I have a spare battery charging for when, not if my battery goes flat.
3 weeks to a month with no use will give me a no start.
Both batteries are AGM.
Just ordered an Antigravity battery to see if that solves it.

Look at them on line, there's all sorts. Bound to be one that works.

Flying for the airlines during the 80's, I had one one my airport car.

Worked great.

Adding a battery in parallel will not exactly trickle charge the car battery. It will probably keep the battery at a higher level for a longer period of time though. Given enough time, both batteries will go flat. You could, as you suggested, take the one and periodically recharge it but each time you do that the effective level of charge will drop as the batteries equalize voltage and you'll need to charge the removable battery more often.
Rather than using a large battery for that purpose one of the jump packs like above would probably suit better. I'd even try not leaving it continuously hooked up and only use it if the car battery won't start the car.
