Service Dept just called to say they are waiting to hear from Ford on a path forward for my GT500 with just over 1800km (1100 miles).

Oil filter was collapsed and excessive metal shavings found in oil!

in addition to the filter collapsing, there is apparently a small piece of plastic at the bottom of the filter housing (filter alignment piece?) that has also broken.

Waiting for pics from service dept, and praying for the best case scenario.

Currently sick to my stomach.

I like to disassemble things.
This is pretty much what was reported here a week or so ago, save for the excessive shavings. Was this indeed the original, assembly line filter or did you have it changed at some point since delivery?

See if they srill have the filter. Not likely, but it may have the incorrect filter installed. There are two filters that are near identical, one barely reinforced with plastic and the other, the correct GT500 filter, is internally reinforced with a perforated steel tube. The key is taking a clear shot of the inside of the filter to see. Call them and ask.

The filter may have been incorrectly installed by the Niche line builder as well. If not seated properly when tightening the filter housing, it can crush the "alignment piece" at the bottom of the housing and then it gets partially collapsed when tightening the housing. Get photos of anything you can. Clear photos that are in focus.

Could be nothing. The other crushed filter car is doing fine.
If its your 1st oil change, id expect metal shavings in there as part of the break in process.
Hard to tell by words alone.

If you need a new canister housing hopefully it doesn't take too long to get to you.

There were 36 of them in Detroit the other day. I have one ordered along with some filters and hope ol' Ford Pass will pick up the tab. :-)
It will, I picked up my canister and case of oil today using FordPass points.

I can see the filter getting twisted if they are installing them dry during production. I have a 2017 Lincoln MKZ that has the plastic version of this filter FL2062. They fit pretty tight on both the plastic canister and on the engine and without oil they would twist easily during installation. This might be something that needs changed/checked almost immediately.

Andy,
I feel really bad for you, especially after all the hoops you had to jump through just to get the car.
I hope this turns out to be better than it looks and you will be up and running ASAP.
Good luck and stay safe.
