Just did my first oil change 2019 GT350 at 1,000 miles. When I took off the oil canister it look like the o-rings where deteriorating. It was all over the canister and even transferred to the inside of the oil filter housing. Anyone else have this problem? Is this normal? I cleaned off all the O-ring material with paper towel and alcohol. Came off.

I don't think it's normal. IMO it's a hit related. Maybe because O-Ring touched against metal. I don't have like this on my S4, all o-rings like new when I changing oil.

Does not look like my car's cannister o-rings. I've done 4 oil changes now, and they always look (and feel) normal. Seriously, if someone put the old one and new one side-by-side (cleaned of old oil), I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

^ I don't know the answer to that, but since every new filter comes with o-rings it's a no-brainer. :)

Does Ford Service call for replacing the o-ring during oil changes?
Yes, once you remove canister, o-rings must be changed. O-rings comes with filter cartridge.

Don't forget to change out that plastic drain plug too!

I like the 2016 oil filter better.... no issues. Just needs good torque.

at a minimum, i think it's important to have a spare on hand and inspect the old one each change.

I can see one going bad, but only after many years... I did about 7 oil changes on my first track pack, and the drain plug still looked like new? I mean it comes off and goes in by hand, the only thing that can go bad is the seal; but if you ensure the surface is clean and there is a little oil on it when you install it , should never fail.
