Seems Kooks has a set of 2 inch headers out and American Racing has a set of 1-7/8 inch headers out. Any thoughts as to which is size is better. Not comparing companies as both make a great product. I'm guessing end goal for hp would be the deciding factor. Just curious what yall think.

Both good companies. 1 7/8ths is plenty big. Maybe Kooks has tested and found results with 2"?

That's sort of what Kooks told me....the 1-7/8" didn't seem to offer much in way of performance versus what comes on them from factory....that is why they went with the 2". I was just thinking the 2" was overkill unless someone took the car up towards 1000hp or more. I have had 1-7/8" size headers before and they flowed pretty damn well. Guess you cant really go wrong with either one. lol

I believe with the ZL1, most of the header offerings are 2" (where the SS it's usually 1-7/8"), maybe be FI (vs. NA) _and_ at that power level needs that kind of exhaust flow[?]

Im going, and have been told, 2" is the way to go. I believe in oem form its near the limit of 1 7/8 efficiency as is

The 2 inch is definitely what I'm leaning toward....just gotta decide on cats or no cats. I hear the green cats are good up to 900hp. I also hear high flow cats are good up to a certain hp. I just want to avoid the exhaust smell if possible. Decisions decisions....

Gfcobra....The primaries would be 2 inch....rest of the pipe would be 3 inch up to the axel back which I'm not sure if is 3 inch or 2.75 inch.

I am catless on my GT350 with Kooks and I have no smell. The only time I smell something is when I do E85 after I have run 93 for a while.

Maybe I had a leak or something on my last car. I just remember smelling exhaust right at my door and out the back.
I guess it's best to eliminate the cats if I'm gonna eventually push the hp up on the car.
