I have 2 of the "Top of the Line" Escort Max 360's. But in all honesty they are all (wait for it-LOL) a "HUGE AND TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY". Here's why, you are cruising along and enjoying the day and decide to "get on that baby a little" you are coming up onto the crest of a hill and sure enough right as you get to the top there's Old Smoky Bear with his window down and his cute little laser gun pointed right at you. GOTCHA!!!!!!!!!!! No radar detector will save you from that. Just put the $300 in the enclosed envelope and mail it in. And don't forget to be at the class tuesday nights at 7PM!!!!!!!! LOL
Lol Chuck. You got any status updates on your build bud?

Been running the Uniden R3, I think I paid $300 for it. Fantastic detector for the price. Simple to use, has very long range, and minimal false alarms.

I do have my "VIN" but thats it. Crickets. LOL I would say whenever they open back up the factory then we should be able to find out something. But until that happens----total silence.

New Valentine one is very nice so far. I've used their previous models for years. Combine Waze and Radar and you have a good chance. Instant on can still get you as well as laser. Don't forget "Pacing" without radar or laser. Ask me how i know.

I have several "support" items on my cars and they have always seemed to help. Support your local, regional and state law enforcement agencies. I've found it's worth it for several reasons, one I believe they help to protect us so supporting them is logical, most of the time they have judgement in the situation and if your respectful, well mannered they may cut you some slack. I've gotten warnings when a ticket could have been issued, and I've been handed back my license and registration with some constructive direction and sent on my way.

After one recent stop, and the Sherriff was sending me on my way. I asked if the stop was completed, he said yes you're free to go. Since this was a rural county I inquired if they had AED's in their cars. He said sadly no. Later that week I called a NFP agency that helps to put AED's in first responder vehicles. 6 months later through the NFP's fund raising that county is now equipped. Karma works.

Uniden R3. Works really well, there are a couple YouTube videos on proper set up to get the most out of it.

yes if you are in a state with high laser usage, a detector is almost pointless. good to keep for interstate travel. i have noticed minimal (virtually nonexistent) laser usage in california, nevada, arizona, and utah. that one time i saw it used out here was the first time i ever saw a laser signal go off on a detector since i started using them 15 years ago

Chuck: Yes, Laser is pretty much impossible to defeat. Fortunately, for whatever reason, the PD down here seems to prefer, (or some traffic officers prefer,) the Ka guns.

The other thing is, you have to be smart and observant, too. I never trust the crest of a hill, for example and only get after it when I'm sure I can't see a unit anywhere and the RD is silent.
yep, always use your brain. know where they like to sit and where there could be a lapse in detector coverage. by the way, my buddy used to have a hidden radar and laser jammer behind his grill on his LS1 f body back in the day (2002-2004), and he never got caught. highly illegal here in California

laser jammers. AL Priority, and Escort both have kits. with proper placement, it prevents the cop from locking on. Its really quite amazing.

I use Escort products for the last 15 years or so. Saved me no telling how much in tickets or prob more realistically, losing my license.

you need a radar detector and laser jammer, if legal in your state.

also, have we discussed the fals positives from the honda/acura crowd and their blind spot system?

any modern detector filters majority of false alarms. you can even block K band (cross traffic/blind spot band) altogether since no one really uses that much anymore. highway patrol uses Ka and laser...

Uniden R3 or R7 for something that will be quiet and simple.

New V1 Gen 2 is a great unit but has no GPS lockouts for false alerts unless you hook up a phone to it as well. If you're willing to do that it would be the best option, but if not go R3/R7

You can't go wrong with any of the latest detectors from Uniden, Passport, Valentine. Radenso is coming out with a detector called Theia. It will have artificial intelligence is thought by many detector testers to be the one to have when it comes out this year. I'm still using my Passport Max 2 and will keep it until the Radenso appears and the normal testing is reviewed.
