Wouldn't hold my breath. They're going all SUV/trucks. We'll be lucky to keep a real Mustang.

I would much prefer a Mustang based new Lincoln Mark IX or X to go up against the German luxury coupes. I've been extremely fond of the Lincoln Mark series since my uncle had a black Mark VIII in the '90s! That car was beautiful and extremely important to Mustang history since it had the first Ford DOHC 32V V8 and independent rear suspension. That 4.6L V8 eventually became the Cobra engine in '95 or '96 if I remember correctly.

'96. Sadly the IRS wasn't dependable under power till like 2003-4 just for it to be killed off for another 10+yrs. Imagine how much better the BOSS would have been with an IRS.

As a MN12 Cougar owner I'd love to see the return of the Mercury Cougar or Lincoln Mark Series. It is crazy how similar the dynamics of the MN12 are to the S550. It's almost like owning a poor mans IRS Cobra but with a wider track; the car even shares the same 28 spline rear axles and the Cobra pumpkin bolts right in. Love how the car has a usable backseat and a large trunk. The Fox based Cougars and Marks were cool too!

You would be better served to get a '68-'72 and Resto-Mod it with Mustang GT drive train and brakes.

If there were enough sales of the Mustang, you could argue for a platform share. But Mustang sales are dwindling as is the whole segment. I hope things will change, but it seems like everyone wants SUV’s now. :(

Having something to co share the S550 chassis would help the Mustang overall.

I dig it. Call it the Cougar, MK-IX, whatever. As long as it’s long and has curves I’m down.

It would be bad ass to have a luxury rocket.. picture a 5.2 Voodoo mated to a 10 speed, Magnaride... woooooohooooo.

Ok so somebody just added the Challenger hood, upper front and taillights on a Mustang digitally. Honestly this looks like the mashup muscle cars in GTA to avoid dealing with real brands.

The only thing i really love in this design is the flat long hood, I don't like that current Mustang has such a dropping nose, but if you want to sell your car internationally you have to implement pedastrian safetly laws.

The frontend reminds me too much of a 5th Gen Camaro, but the lower bumper don't match at all.

But great skill in creating these renderings.
