Hi all, I know this is a known issue and I have not seen it on my orange fury R probably due to the lighter color. My performance blue R has 50 miles now and I’m already noticing the damage the air box is doing to the inner hood. I’m hesitant to put PPF in that location due to my fear that the heat may permanently bond the adhesive of the PPF to the hood.

Any other suggestions? Thanks

Thats where the foam gasket on top of air box seals to the hood to keep air from coming in except from the cold air opening in front. I would say just live with it. No matter what you would put up there when you close the hood its still gonna seal against the top of air box like its supposed to and most likely leave a mark.

Some have put clear bra in that area but I don’t like the idea of that film being exposed to all of the heat generated from the engine. When you go to remove it, it may cause more damage

I have used electrical tape. Like the OP, I could see the outline of where the foam rubs on the underside of the hood. I just took electrical tape and covered it up. Prep the area first to promote adhesion. Held up fine for 2 years so far.

PFF will work fine and can take a lot of heat. It’s often time used on the side sills of Viper that have the exhaust and cats running just underneath
