How Many Tracks Have You Visited/Raced?

On this nice Saturday AM, I started thinking about my experiences at different tracks when I was first getting in to the car scene.

I’ll kick it off:
North Myrtle Beach Dragway (Home track)
710/Rowland Dragway
Darlington Dragway (best ET in my old GT at that track)
Rockingham Dragway (spectator)
Thunder Valley Raceway/Red Springs (spectator)
Fayetteville Dragway (spectator)

I think that’s all. I’ve been to Palm Beach International for a driving experience but didn’t check out the dragstrip. I would like to see what my current GT will run!

Same here. I Will probably do all my racing at Cecil this year. I don’t wanna put a roll bar in the car. And they they seam to be the most laxed with the rules.

Palm Beach International raceway. I went a few time during my chevy years. At that time it was know as Moroso Motorsports Park

Crossville Dragway. Just got back from there. Small 1/8 mile track right off the interstate. They had a jet car, a few pro mods and was letting people race there cars/truck for free. It brought back some old feelings and I might have to see what I can squeak out my mustang some time.

I started doing track days last summer. My first HPDE was two track days at Oregon Raceway Park. It has lots of blind corners. We ran opposite directions on the two days - clockwise on day 1 and counter-clockwise on day 2 - so each day was a new track for me. Their signature feature is a triple banked-turn sequence called "The Halfpipe".

Last week, I just got back from two days at Laguna Seca. That was a 735-mile haul from Idaho, but the track was a bucket list item for me. Definitely worth it! Both this event and ORP were run with "Hooked on Driving".

For the California trip, I rigged up some "Laguna Pipes" for my 2019 GT350 exhaust which enabled me to blast past their 90dB-limit sound booth with impunity.

Portland international raceway, prep sucks but there is never a long line so you can get a lot of runs in. Night drags so cooler temps, 102db limit.
Woodburn dragstrip. Good prep, longer lines. Better grudge racing..faster cars than at PIR. Both are strict on NHRA safety rules.

Place was awesome for Wednesday night T&T... Too bad they shuttered the place. I used to race my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon there. I sold the car in 2004 and hadn't been to a dragstrip again until 2018 when I bought the Mustang. Now I go to Wildhorse Pass.

Route 66 Raceway, Houston Raceway, NoProblem Raceway & State Capital Dragway
Route 66 reminded me of a football stadium with the strip running out one end. Went back in the 90's when they raced in October. John Force set a speed/time record & the pro-stock guys were breaking records with each pass, it seemed. The old State Capital Dragway used to host the Cajun Nationals until the owners couldn't extend the shutdown area. A lot of the old school racers came through there... I took my kids to see the SpringNationals almost every year in Houston. Good times there, with the kids getting to meet the drivers.
