Thought you guys might be interested in these factory plugs that came out of my 2015. I dont believe they had ever been changed! I bought the car recently with 79k miles on it and finally got around to changing plugs today.

The gaps were way wide which is probably due to wearing away of the electrode.

Car ran well and was returning 31.5 mpg on my long hwy commute.

I agree basically i think the plugs look great color wise for the miles. Im glad i changed them just because of the gap but im sure these could have been re gapped and re installed and met their service life handily.

And here I was starting to worry that I still have my factory ones in at 34k.

I changed mine at 45k (car was running a little funny but ended up being something else), the plugs looked very good even at 45k... Decided to proceed anyway cuz I had already bought the plugs. Went OEM. So likely these cars CAN indeed wait until 80-100k for plug changes, at least stock cars.

Think there's a difference between ford and ngk? I toss ngk in everything, never had an issue.

Those plugs look in quite decent shape for 80k miles, it re affirms the 100k recommended interval and 99% should all be using these as they are the correct heat range. The stock plugs are manufactured and supplied by NGK, these are also the same plugs used the for Focus RS. The one step colder plugs foul quickly because they are too cold and don't self clean efficiently. One thing I have learned over the years is never fuck with changing plugs unless your doing something radical, the one thing manufactures get right is the plugs.

Stock, you are good for many many miles.

If you are tuned, the gap starts widening at less than 10k miles.
Mine went from .028 to .034 in 8000 miles.

Check them often. New set of NGK costs $35
Or just check and regap often.

Those look to be in excellent shape.

Just curious, how wide was the gap on those compared to recommended factory specs?

My apologies for taking so long to reply; the gaps on all the plugs passed an .o41 feeler gauge with a noticeable drag.
