Just curious, if there was a kit with all the necessary sensors/computer/wiring, how much would eveyone be willing to pay for a kit like this?
I'm probably in the minority, but I've manually rev-matched very downshift in my 18 car with 40k miles so I like this feature mainly for novelty I guess, but I don't *need* it. I also like the idea of
having the gear readout on the 12" digital cluster like the 19+'s have. Again not a need.

With all that, I'd say I'd pay no more than $200.

Sidebar: Does Lund or anyone else have the ability to do boost by gear if the PCM can see the exact gear you're in on the 19+ cars? I thought Whipple's flash tool had this.

For me it would depend on how much needs to be replaced. If this means a new PCM/BCM I think that would price it out of reach for pretty much everyone. Us 2018 guys were hoping the hardware was all in place already and at most it would be a tune away (since it's not as simple as a forscan flag).

Personally it's a feature I'd really like to have so I'd probably pay up to $500 for it.

Not sure what I'd be "willing" to pay, but considering it is now standard on the 2019+ that costs the same as the 2018 MY, then it "shouldn't" cost very much at all.

Personally, I have no idea how much something like this would cost in the first place.

I don't think the question is about how much anybody thinks it might cost.

It's more about how much you'd be willing to pay for it if it was made available. IOW, what is its value to you, the same judgment you make for any other regular production option on the order form or aftermarket part/mod that you do later. Would this be worth $100? $250? more?

I would pay $250 for it if I knew that it would work in my 2017 mustang.

Hell with it... I'd pay $500-$800 for an OEM solution, as long as I don't have to drop the transmission to facilitate it. The AutoBlip is $400 and is really nice (got it on my race car), but can only do one gear at a time. Just haven't brought myself to get one for the street car yet.

I agree with Condor that it shouldn't be much since its standard on 2019+. I'd probably pay up to $400 to add it.

Honestly for road course use, my car being a toy, and me being only somewhat decent at heel toe, I'd don't think I'd lose any sleep over $1K if it was OEM in nature, i.e. not a gimmick but truly detecting shift gate positions and properly rev matching. My experience using it in a GT4 was incredible. That's value to me though, not what I think it *should* cost.

While changing the oil today (Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20)

I remembered to get a photo of the xmsn shift sensor (with great difficulty).
mustang_2_20200422_120234_resized.jpg

It is located on the left side of the xmsn, up top where we can barely see the wires from beneath.
Directly above this area:

Sadly, it does not appear to be easily retrofittable (is that a word ?). My guess is it detects magnets on the shift rail. The easiest (or only) way to add all this may be to get a '19 xsmn.

On other xmsn news, I did not get a good photo of the rotating counterweight on the right side but (also my guess) is it dampens the shifting and probably does much of what a weighted shift knob does but better.

coming from a 2016 GT i have been doing my own rev matches, and would pay up to $500-800 for an OEM total installed

I guess it was wishful thinking I would get to the end of this thread and find an easy solution for an 18.... when it’s too good to be true it usually is. Oh well

I expect to eventually see someone throw a trans from a wrecked one into an earlier S550 along with what else is needed just to say they did it. Maybe throw in the pre-'18 gears? Not for the feint of heart or wallet.
