Yesterday me and my friend were working on rear brakes and I was surprised to see this. This has been only on my car only for an year and it's already rusting pretty bad in multiple spots.

UPDATE: Steeda reached out to me saying they would send me a new one under warranty, when the part becomes available.

I'll have a look at mine. It's been on my daily driven 2015 GT since 2016.

Update: Yes, as you can see, it's showing some significant signs of corrosion.

Wire brush, WD40, wire brush, clean off WD40, lacquer thinner. Paint brush, apply Rust-Oleum black, drive on. I just got a set of jack rails, seeing this the plan now becomes, scuff, and add a coat of paint.

Notice it starts at the welds, there is a reason for that. The welds are lumpy, they can hold dirt, or contaminants that come to the surface when welded.

Production often just weld, shoots the paint, air dry and ship. Not all the higher price pieces, the better the finish for the same item.

Best way to avoid this type of deal is to. With new part, wire brush the welds until shinny. clean, prime & repaint.

Thanks for posting and the reminder, this is nothing new BTW.

So glad I don't live in the snow :)
I usually don't drive it during the winter, so far had to drive through only one snow storm.

Steeda reached out to me saying they'd replace it under warranty.

That was good of them. I'll just keep driving the car, washing it regularly until it breaks/falls off... then eventually replace it. Canadian winters aren't too forgiving, but I'll be the first to say that the car has held up very well. Only the aftermarket parts show signs of corrosion.

I thought those braces were powder coated, no?

Same thing happened to me after 2 years in Chicago. Steeda sent me new set couple weeks ago. I put a couple coats of black plastidip on mine before replacing. I also noticed different hardware came with new one.

Nice to see them stand behind the warranty they claim. It's good to know you are spending money on a part that is guaranteed.

I am curious if @SteedaTech knows why this happens so often? If so, will he share?

It is powder coated. In my experiences, excessive corrosion of coated parts is due to either a coating process issue or excessive movement (flex) of the part. I have noticed that most of these occurrences show the majority of the rust at the "joints".

Interesting for sure.

In my case, i've only had it for like a year and 3 months; installed in Dec 2018. Out of that period, the car was in storage for nearly 6 months (4 months last winter and 2 months this winter). I've driven it only once in snow and mostly avoid driving when roads are salty.
