I will start by saying this is not on a 350 but having so many knowledgeable and helpful people here convinced me :)

I recently got a 2012 Boss 302. Car is stock and runs great overall. Recently though it developed this very interesting noise most obvious front passenger side valve cover. It sounds like a crackling. I tried swapping out coils, left/right but that made no difference. I am wondering what the heck it can be. It starts only after about 30-60 seconds after the engine is started. Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks a lot!

Could it be check valve inside the PCV? Disconnect the PCV line to see if it stops?

AC compressor need to be recharged/oiled? That was a problem on Fox bodies that fixed a sound like that?

Good point! I will try disconnecting the AC belt and see. AC compressor was charged (not oiled BTW). Thanks!

I checked the PCV check valve and the black stem in the middle of it is extremely loose and when moved by hand with the engine off makes that click clickity sound I hear. Is it normal for that black stem to be moving loose with the engine off?

Just an update. It was the darn PCV valve (which BTW is the same part number as on GT350). I pulled it out, sprayed it well with non-chlorinated brake cleaner and installed it back. The thing works like.a charm and no noises. Because I do not know how good a 10 year old valve is, especially after all the things it was doing, I ordered a replacement anyways. They are dirt cheap and a cheap insurance.

Thanks again to everybody for the help!

Glad it was an easy and cheap fix.
