As a manual driver and only 48, I would like to know if any seniors opt for the manual.
I'm 72 and my wife is a couple of years younger. We both insist on only buying cars with a MT . . . even in our four-door "family cars" (or what passes for such).

Please tell me that I will not deviate from the manual fun (for as long as Ford makes one) in my later years!!
"Driving stick" isn't like mandatory retirement where when you hit a certain age you'd have to give it up for that reason alone. Perhaps it's more like being self-employed, where you can keep at it for as long as you want to.

Here's to hoping...

Thank you all of you for keeping the Mustang around
Hi - My wife (76) would prefer an automatic, but since I drive the toy cars most of the time she doesnā€™t mind and does know how to drive a stick in an emergency, when I need a break or when Iā€™ve had more than one beer. When she graduated from college in ā€˜63 her fatherā€™s present was a 2 year old Falcon with 3 on the tree. Having to learn to drive a standard on her own you can understand why she nicknamed the car ā€œBuckyā€. I taught my college age granddaughter to drive a stick because she is sometimes the designated driver for her friends and because she might be forced to drive one if a driver friend had too much to drink. Iā€™m not from a large metropolitan area with packed highways and slow moving traffic so I might feel differently if that was the case. Our family car (Impala) is of course an automatic and I wouldnā€™t want otherwise. My first pickup was a stick shift, but never again because I found an automatic is easier for pulling a boat trailer. For cars like my GTO and Bullitt, a stick is clearly my preference. At my age(78) I can also understand why some peers with arthritic knees and hands would want an automatic. Another reality is that some of the younger generations have had little if any exposure to standard transmissions. So it comes down to a choice based on preference, practicality and personal circumstances. A fair number of Bullitt owners wished there was a choice, but Steve McQueen wouldnā€™t have approved... Hi - The wife and I just turned 76 and 78 respectively in January. Other than some achy joints, in particular our knees, weā€™re hanging in there and looking forward to Spring so we can resume our day tripping in the Bullitt we bought last April. It took all these years for me to finally figure out why I was putting money into an IRA way back when... Bruce

You two look great. Don't look older than 60.

Enjoy as I do with my GT at 65.

Iā€™ve loved the GT350 forever. I have a 65 Fastback built into a GT350 tribute and was excited when the late-model GT350 came out. When I heard the GT500 model was coming, I decided to wait for it.

Years later, the GT500 specs were finally revealed and I learned that it would have neither a manual transmission nor the Voodoo FPC engine. That was a deal-breaker for me - especially the transmission. I pulled the trigger on a 2019 GT350. After 9 months of ownership, I can say I made the right choice. Automatic transmissions are great in my trucks, but the sports cars are toys that have proper manuals.

Here's a few pics taken last week at age 64.

Although in my mid 70's and having been retired for almost a decade, I think anyone in there mid 60's as middle aged, although you're only as young as you feel, and when driving my 19 GT I feel like I did back in the 60's, and when driving my Mini I feel middle aged. My 19 GT PP1/A10 is a lot more comfortable than my modified 14 TrackPak, and faster in the 1/4. I've been an NHRA Member for 40+ years and most of that time I raced automatics...why?, because they were more consistent and faster. Currently an automatic, at leat for me is easier on the knees around town. This will probably be my last Mustang, and by far, it's the best...if I can keep my hands off adding refinements.

Iā€™m in at 70 yrs old. Officially a new owner of a 2019 Mustang GT Premium with the A10 as of yesterday. My second GT buT the first was in 1995 so no real comparison. Was lucky to find one with the 401A, Safe and Sound and Enhanced Security Package with 10500 mi on it.

Very nice. I'm certain you'll be very happy together.

I like the look of those wheels. I wonder if anyone knows if theyā€”or similarsā€”are available in PP1 sizes?

Nice ride. That color looks great with those wheels. Good luck with it.

Define "senior." Yes, and I drive a stick! Age is just a number...

We are 62/63 and are new owners of a 2019 GT Prem 6M Orange Fury, just in time for our 40th wedding anniversary. Took a bit of time in between our Mustangs as the split screen picture is copy of the 79 Orange Cobra (turbo not quite ready for prime time back then) I had when we got married and the 19 we have now. Agree with y'all that age is just a number...
