Just throwing out an option here . . .I machined a nylon housing to cover the holes and added an LED brake light. This is not something that you can buy, but it was a great option for my daily driver and it adds a level of awareness for the drivers behind me.

Nice work.. How is it holding up? Any issues. Can I convince you to share the design and shatter you did to make it work?
