5w 50 oil

Just got my oil changed. Service advisor at ford told me the ford mechanic put 5w 50 full synthetic instead of the 5w 20. What's the benefit?

5w50 has a higher oil weight than the 5w20. It'll be fine since you are supercharged. GT500s use 5w50 oil for example.

I think most S/C manufacturers recommend 5w50 and even require it if they provide a warranty.

Roush and Whipple both recommend 5w50 for the 2018+.

Whipple said 5W50 here as well. Been using it ever since the install a year ago.

Might wanna make sure CHT is 190 or higher before going WOT with thicker oil on a cold morning?

I have mmr oil pump and crank sprocket gears

If harmonics are what breaks the opg, as the ford guy said, then a higher viscosity might add some damping and actually help the situation.
