Oh man, careful. Thats where i overheard the techs saying they cant wait till I bring mine in a on a dry day. They didnt know 8 was the owner. They tried to keep my car for a week+ while waiting for a new hood latch. I left it for 4 hours and it had an extra 30 miles on it when i picked it up.Id set it to valet mode if u bring it for service
Good to know and I was told about you being their in a good way just so you know. And I take a picture of the odometer and document it back to the service writer and put a note in the car, Attention Techs Please Refrain From Driving My Rare Vehicle. All activities are being Monitored and thank you for being an excellent Tech.
And this is interesting you bring this up since I saw my future car being parked I noticed the miles at 6.2 When I took delivery I thought it said she had 14 miles initially. And I’m like Damn the Tech took her for a joy ride. I was getting ready to ask the GM and then at the last second I noticed it was miles to empty :) The GM said the Customer fills up the Shelby with a gas ticket they won’t let their techs or car porter just for the reason you have mentioned. All of sudden the car has extra miles. And sorry to hear someone took her for a ride and hopefully as strong as these cars are no damage and or issues will arise from this. I have read so many stories of this behavior as well over on the Hellcat Forum to and other forums as well. And I think if all people did what I have mentioned it would possibly cut down on this type of activity.

When looking at the VIN how do you determine what your "Build #" is???

To my knowledge, the VIN has no relationship with the chassis number/build number. VINs are issued before they are assigned to a chassis so they couldn't be included.

AFAIK, they all begin with L0 or now, L1, etc. and, at least for the 500, it is a 5-digit number, at least up to this point in time.

FYI, I mistakenly used my 1528 vin. Went in to delete the entry. Wouldn't let me/ RK

Agree! I did oil change at 2 Koons ships and got bad service. Take to Jerry's in Leesburg. Tech manager been working on Shelby's for 30 years. They have mad respect for owners. They did my bumper TSB. Great job!

You can monitor your car on Ford APP and where its been.

I wonder if we will have a forum member with a build under 100?

With a proposed maximum of only ~5000 units being scheduled for assembly at the FRAP the chassis plates will stay as "LXXXX" for the 2020 MY.

A little surprised that the FRAP did not assign a separate chassis series for the 2 seat cars versus the 4 seat cars but obviously they lumped all 2 seat and 4 seat cars together when it comes to the chassis numbers.

I would not be surprised to see the very early built GT500 cars having a VIN and chassis number that coincides with each other.

That was certainly the case with the very early 2012 Boss 302 cars and was also the case with all of the 2015 GT350/R units.

Harry: You are probably correct about some of the first but I think because of the "problems," the numbers diverged. Ron beat me at 125 <smile> while my VIN and chassis are 711/171. I didn't know about the Boss and 350R vehicles having sync'd numbers.

But, to this old phart, they're just numbers. :-)

Yes, unfortunately there seemed to be a great deal of confusion with the launch of the GT500 including the chassis number designations.

Would have thought that the 2 seat GT500's such as yours and Ron's car would have had a separate chassis series compared to the 4 seat cars but obviously they did not.

It was interesting that for the 8 year run of the GT500's (~47,000 cars) starting back in 2006 that none of these second generation GT500's ever came with chassis numbers but when the Boss 302 cars came out in 2011 that both the 2 seat cars and the 4 seat cars had their own unique and separate chassis number series located in the engine compartment and on the top of the intake manifold.

It was also interesting to note that for the 2015MY Ford decided to mirror the VIN's and chassis numbers for each of the Limited Edition Mustangs assembled that year and was not only for the 137 Shelby GT350/R's but they also mirrored the VIN and chassis numbers for the 1964 Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Mustangs built for the 2015MY.

Understand and appreciate that these are just numbers but from one old phart to another I find that these chassis numbers a cool part of our cars DNA and history.

I FEEL your enthusiasm, Harry and I'm a wee bit envious. I do love history but the significance of the numbering just isn't something that excites me.

Now, put me behind the WHEEL of my girl and I'm ALWAYS excited. <smile>

Thanks for the reply, Harry.

I somewhat agree with Harry for all that have less the 1000 it will be something that people will recognize at the shows in the future and if you are under 500 it will really get you noticed when they have 5 to 10 thousand out there.
KB you being under 200 with a snack pack will be amazing most snack packs under 200 will be Ford or VIP people that have them. My bet is you are in a very exclusive group of non VIPs under 200.

Totally agreed that getting an early first year 2 seat GT500 CFTP car is pretty cool and also very desirable with KB getting car #171 and Ron getting #125.

With the initial launch of the 2020 GT500 along with getting an elusive 2 seat GT500 that certainly puts KB and Ron in some exclusive company and as time goes on it will only become more relevant and important.

When I look at intelligent and enthusiastic Mustang owners and collectors such as John Atzbach who happens to own the very first 1965 R model/competition model along with "F0037" the very last 2015 R along with Jay Leno who owns many cars including "F0036" which mirrors the total number of R/competition models built back in 1965 and of course Craig Jackson who took delivery of "L0001" it is obvious that very early and very late chassis numbers are important to enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Very happy that both KB and Ron were able to secure early GT500 CFTP builds!
