To those who are going to use the Hyundai Equus wheel. I went to 70.66mm, that was what another poster stated to bore the hub to. Don't just go 70.5mm as the hub bore dimension shown above from boB, or you'll be revisiting the machine shop again.

Nice find! I went the easy route and ordered the Automotive Authority spare but it is good to have people on this forum like you, with the ingenuity to find other options. :)

I can't take any credit for this. I was just sharing my experience of how I went about sourcing a wheel and the cost I paid to get the hub machined. It was another forum members post on what he did for an alternative to the $400 spare tire for the Brembo brakes, that lead me to the Hyundai Equus wheel option.

The price I paid for my wheel was $115.00, shipping included from a used car part dealer on the East coast. I paid a local machine shop $40.00 to bore the hub, my total cost is $155.00. My local Big O was nice enough to dismount the tire from the wheel for free, I just have to go back to get it re-installed. The Automotive Authority wheel/tire assy is $409.00, less $155.00 is $254.00 in savings. I for one can't pay $409.00, when there is an alternative that is over fifty percent less.

I went the AA route for peace of mind. Added some sound dampening sheets to the floor pan to reduce rattling and vibrations. Fits perfectly. I even added a roll up tool pouch with 150 ft-lb torque wrench, collapsible lug wrench and some extra tools beneath spare. And even fit emergency LED road flares too. Better safe than sorry imo.

My AA spare arrived a couple of days ago. Now, I need to locate a scissor jack.

I got a Torin Big Red and a Husky (from Home Depot) jack, they also need the socket adapter (and the Husky needed some filing for the adapter to fit). The handle that is supplied is not of much use. These jacks are not rated for quite enough weight at their lowest position but seem to work ok.

AA was an expensive option but it’s a tight fit in the spare tire location and you have to relocate the jack. Only reason you need the AA spare is if you get a cut sidewall.
