Camaro ,challenger and mustangs are muscle cars
Perhaps you should have prefaced this with "In my opinion".

As usual your response is juvenile, lacks substance and is based on 'feelings"....In my opinion.

The modern day Muscle Car is now the Camaro Challenger Mustang

And yes the Pony car was the Mustang but with today’s car products it has evolved to the Muscle Car Era which is now. And for the record what manufacture makes a true Muscle Car as we knew it????? And sure the Challenger could be in a class of its own now with the exception of the Charger. And even Wikipedia references the term Muscle Car with the later generation Mustang.
And here is some of my Muscles

Zl1 1le did a 7:16 at the ring. Sorry but no car that focused on road racing is a muscle car. No muscle car is rough to drive on a road. They are big comfy cruisers with powerful V8s that are very fast on the open road and a drag strip.

Voodoo said challenger, camaro, and mustang are all muscle cars. Wrong not all challengers are muscle cars, some have v6s some are AWD. In the past there were some muscle cars built from the ground up as muscle cars, the road runner comes to mind, no engine was offered that wasn’t a V8.

The Camaro and Mustang were and still are pony cars in their lower trims. The gt350 and gt500 have become too expensive and too good to be just pony cars. They have evolved into true world class sports cars in terms of performance. Look at the MSRP on mustangs in the past, pony cars are affordable sporty cars like the ecoboost and GT mustang.

The only muscle car left is a V8 challenger. You can argue otherwise but the evidence is overwhelming, I thought it was pretty well known on most forums.

Go to Fords site, nowhere will you find the mustang called a muscle car, you will find it called the original pony car and a sports car. Both are true.

I would agree that only the high powered challenger is a muscle car in the traditional sense.

The Mustang and Camaro are more focused on handling now, and aren’t roomy enough to be muscle cars. They are pony cars.

In my (correct) opinion of course.

Kind of a pointless debate.
Their are only a few American performance cars left.
I personally drop the muscle car pony car lingo.
To me we have some true American Muscle on the roads today.
Mustang, Camaro, Challenger are American Muscle.
The Corvette is probably the only true American ‘sports car’ left.
Even though I DD a Hellcat Charger, I always say my preference is anything fast, specifically American Muscle.
One thing we should agree on, it’s GOOD to be alive right now.
Huge factory horsepower at reasonable prices and amazing race gas cheap at the pump (E85).
Carry on.

Good point but it's very easy to explain. Here is a list of the cars made right now and in the last 5 years that a lot of people toss in the muscle car debate.

Dodge Challenger.
Ford Mustang.
Chevy Camaro.
Dodge Charger.

That's four cars and one is a four door.

Now here is a list of muscle cars from the late 60s and early 70s

Buick Wildcat.
Buick Skylar.
Buick Riviera.
Buick Gran Sport.
Buick GSX.
Chevy Biscayne.
Chevy Bel Air.
Chevy Impala.
Chevy Nova.
Chevy Chevelle.
Chevy Caprice.
Dodge Polara
Dodge Dart.
Dodge Coronet.
Dodge Charger
Mercury Monterey
Mercury S-55 Marauder.
Mercury Comet.
Mercury Cyclone.
Mercury Cougar.
Mercury Montego.
Pontiac Tempest.
Pontiac GTO.
Plymouth Belvedere.
Plymouth GTX.
Plymouth Road Runner.
Plymouth Superbird.
Plymouth Duster.
Plymouth Fury.
Ford Galaxie
Ford Thunderbolt.
Ford Fairlane.
Ford Torino.
Oldsmobile 442.
Oldsmobile Cutlass.
Oldsmobile Rallye.

I left out some like Chrysler and AMC and I probably made a few mistakes, but you can see how reviewers today have to throw in anything that comes close to a muscle car because there’s just not muscle cars being made today. I mean look at the list almost ever American car brand had more than two muscle cars for sale in the late 60 and early 70s. Today we have one and a couple of pony cars. I could make a list of pony cars too, most have died out as well, the Camaro has been of and on through the years, the mustang is the only one that has kept going from day one. I think that makes a point too. A muscle car could not have survived the 70s 80s and 90s, they didn’t, a pony car could.

Muscle + Car
None of you have been able to state a definition that eliminates mustang and Camaro. Therefore, it is not opinion that they are muscle cars. It would be opinion that they are not.

High Hp America V8 coupes that are blisteringly fast in the straight line= muscle car.
