I'm going car shopping for my Mustang GT on Wednesday and was wondering what I should realistically expect for a price on a 2019 model. I've researched the forums and I've seen people getting 20% off of MSRP plus tax and title. I'm eyeing a dealership with 3 2019 cars all configured the same and they have all been sitting on the lot for about a year. What say you. Thanks!

Honestly at this point 20% is a good starting point. That said, if your dealer is holding cars for that long you may have a hard time getting there.

Late december they were all like $10k off in my area. 2020s are boasting 15% off from the dealers right now, so yeah if I were you i'd be aiming for 18-20% at least on a 2019.

Hi there, I just purchased a 2019. It was ordered to my specifications, so I had to wait a few months. I would honestly say “get what you desire” by this I’m saying, make sure it’s what you want.
Gat a few quotes and see what dealers you feel comfortable with.

I don't know how people get 18-20%. The most I've been able to get is 10%. Maybe the model makes a difference. I'm looking at the gt premium with pp1.

if you can't be bothered to negotiate... Here's 15% off before taxes.

Now the above are not great deals at all as advertised. If you're not getting the full 11% off MSRP and another $2750 in current incentives (equals $8000) off MSRP before taxes you're looking in the wrong place. How much you allow the dealership to "claw back" of the 8000 in "paperwork fees" or trying to reclaim "freight" is on you. Not only should it be zero, the price before taxes+title should be even lower than the advertised price. Remember the dealership FAILED to sell the car for going on 6 months to a full year. That's their problem for mis-pricing it.

Remember F150 which are Ford's (and dealer's) cash cows are discounted 30-35% and that's the opening/asking price. It's your obligation as a consumer to stick the dealer hard for his failure to read consumer sentiment correctly.

Since you're in NJ, broaden your search to NE Penn, north of Philly, DE and NE Maryland if you don't want to jump on the Oscela and come to northern VA to do your shopping.

I've tried contacting Koons and Sheehy. The most they're willing to come down is 10% including the rebates. I don't know how to get them to come down more. Maybe I need to negotiate more. I was looking at same cars. If I can get it for 20% off msrp I'd jump on it.

I just negotiated a 12 percent off of MSRP without rebates, to qualify for 0 percent financing. Who can't pass up a no interest loan, for a 2019 GT with PP1 and Safe and Smart package. Happy with the deal.

Nice, congrats. What are those dark spots under the car, they look to be on the cement. Wait...are those shadows, does the sun shine where you live? I haven't seen my shadow in months. Boy those cars look great in the sun.

No it's a strong 5000k light and the concrete is actually tracing paper. Look for the chalk outline in the next series of photos. Like the movie some time back, if you push your finger on the garage door, the thin tissue and plaster will give way and you'll see the film studio parking lot behind the painting.

New Jersey sucks for buying cars. Dealers all over the state want top dollar for every single car that leaves their lots. I have bought lots of cars over the years and dealers have no problem letting you walk out if you do not agree to their terms. I bought my 2018 brand new in September 2019. The car was on the lot for 15 months. I got 20% off sticker. And that was a take it or leave it price. Since I wanted my Mustang search to end I agreed to that price. Probably over paid but I am happy I made the purchase. What works in other parts of the country just doesn't work here in Mother Jersey.

I spoke to a neighbor of mine, who was a fleet manager at a local Ford dealership. I told him what kind of discount I got and he stated that for the greater San Francisco Bay Area, that I got a good deal at 12% off of MSRP. I guess it's all dependent on your local economy.

Right now I'm looking at a local Kona Blue A10 GT Premium PP1, Recaros, Active Exhaust, 401A.. They are at 18% off without negotiation and I was going to shoot for 20% off then take the 0% financing.

My question is should I be shooting for even more than 20% off? This dealer has 4 similar cars but the Kona Blue isn't common around here.

You can shoot for whatever you feel comfortable with. The worse they can do is say no. Then it’s your choice to walk or negotiate.
