4.09 is highest numerically I have seen for our cars.

Your the only one that can answer if it is worth it.

If you plan on forced induction, I would not touch the gears yet. Once you have your boost, see how it hooks how you drive. Most FI guys say 3.55 is as high numerically as you want to be. Too much gear and you will not be able to get traction until at highway speeds. Even then you can eat tires for lunch if you are not feathering the throttle.

Yeah.. if you’re going boost, especially turbo, keep your current ratio. For turbo applications, a numberically lower gear ratio can assist with turbo spoolup as there’s a greater load on the engine versus a numerically higher gear.

Not to mention with boost you’ll be running out of gear fast and add to traction issues with a 4:10 rear.

What if I just change them back after ? Cause I wont be boosting it for another year. Maybe the 4.10 will hold me off on fun until then
I have 3.73 now

IMVHO swapping 4.09's not worth it,, OToH Yukon makes 4.56/4.88's for the Super 8.8

Running the 4.56's through a gear calc shows they would be a good choice and you'd be able to use 6th gear.

I found out today I have 3.73 on my Mustang already. Will switching to a 4.10 gear ratio be of a difference? Or would the switch not be worth it?

Or even going higher?
Are you sure you have a 3.73? Is your car stock? In the other thread you stated you had an automatic non PP car. So, I think you should have a 3.31 (someone correct me if I am wrong).

4.09 gear will be a good daily happy medium gear especially if it is a 2017 gt with the MT82 with 1:1 5th gear

Manual PP cars are all 3.73, I don't believe the ratio is even an option on a non-PP car.

Crawl under your car and look for a stamped metal tag on the diff. If it's stamped 3L73 (IIRC), you've got 3.73s. Any other gearset will have such a number corresponding to the actual ratio.

Seems quite high! $1600 that could be better spent for bang for the buck.

I'm not surprised it would be that high. It's quite a bit of work. Make sure they are using a good quality gear set.
