The 5.2 CPC engine will unfortunately die with the GT350. It would be nice if Ford would use a n/a version of the GT500 engine.
the n/a CPC would be the N/A version of the GT500 engine

Yep like others mentioned this needs to be the 5.2 block from the gt500 but without the supercharger and without the fpc. Im hoping for a perfect 500 hp rating as well. This way the gt350 and gt500 are still unique and so is the mach 1. They already did the "updated" 5.0 in the bullit thing so this seems like the next logical step. This would also be quite possible the best mustang engine to mod ever.

Well looks like I’ll be swapping my rear diffuser out for this one. Btw I find it odd that the car has a spoiler made for a Shelby on it and a GT500 style diffuser and at least What looks to be at least 4in tail pipes. Watch this be a new Shelby from Ford.

Doesn't look like they put much effort in on making it unique. It does look like they hit the parts bin hard. The spoiler looks like an 18+ performance pack spoiler. Not impressed so far.

It’s a 19+ Shelby spoiler. It’s visible from the spy shots.

^^ that does look good.........and for me, that should have been what the '18+ GT350 looked like. I'd be surprised if the front bumper changes from this prototype......meaning the middle section (lower grille) will look the same as the current GT, but with changes to the outer "triangular" sections, and relocated turn signals.

Also, all this talk of cross plane crank 5.2s has me really excited........and I don't want to be disappointed, so lets not get our hopes up that this is anything more than a reworked Bullitt spec 5.0

It’s 50/50 right now if the 5.2 CPC will make it to the Mach1.

Here’s the biggest issue: The 5.2 is a gen 2 coyote, it’s port injection only.

what I don’t see happening (although I’d really love it) would be Ford to introduce a DFI 5.2 cpc engine. One of the letdowns for me with the predator was going backwards for the top end of the engine. It’s a gen 2 coyote on a gen 3 block.

I’m certain a gen 3 5.0 Coyote would outperform a 5.2 cpc gen two NA coyote until 6000rpm.

That's a very good point.....it would seem a potential step backwards to lose the direct injection. That being said, doesn't the crate 5.2 Aluminator (and being a crate motor, I assume there's no emissions/MPG targets to maintain) get something like 575hp? I'm sure if it had to adhere to the same production restrictions as the 5.0 Gen 3, it'd be a lot closer.

At the end of the day, whether 5.0 or 5.2, it just needs (in my opinion) to hit that magic 500 normally aspirated ponies :)

You’re correct sir. The aliminator does hit those numbers but the caveat is race gas and long tube headers.

The other caveat is 12:1 CR, like the FPC 5.2. Believe me, they CAN easily make 5.2 at 500hp, but we’re talking gas guzzler taxes again. A gen 3 coyote will not be taxable.

I’d love a 5.2 cpc DFI. I’d probably sell my GT350 for one as it’ll easily make 600bhp with bolt ons. Amazing.

I haven't seen it mentioned or speculated on...but I would assume that if the Mach 1 has a lot of trickle-down GT350/500 content, it's going to cost a pretty penny.

The Bullitt was priced exceptionally well as it wasn't much more expensive than a GT Premium with comparable options (at least in Canada). If this Mach 1 is going to be more than a rebadged Bullitt and have some trickle-down gear from it's big brothers, I'd expect the price to hover around the space that a GT350 currently sits in (slightly less I'd imagine).

I'd say, that whatever engine this thing comes with will heavily influence the price (duh).

What say the rest of ya'?

Well, if Ford gives us what we want I’m thinking in between the Bullitt & GT350. Lets say $58,000.
