My insurance is due next month and I was wondering if there are any companies others are using that are competitive? I have a multi-car policy at the moment but they're coming in a little expensive so wanted to shop around so any pointers would be gratefully received.

i always seem to end up with more than i did foray into a different provider for a single year but then more than dropped below 300 for the next years renewal so went back to them and since then they've been the same every year.

I've been with Progressive for about 7 years now I think and every time I try to quote with someone else, it ends up being much higher. Maybe because of the customer loyalty discounts that Progressive has, but I think it is mostly to do with their Pay in Full discount honestly. If you don't have an issue doing that, definitely check them out.

I renewed in December with Admiral. First year insuring just the Mustang - previously had a multicar with my fiesta. It seems that loyalty goes a long way with them...I seem to remember getting a fair few quotes that were the best part of £1k, best I think was in the 600-700 range IIRC, I called and spoke to admiral and literally said "well, it would be nice it was around the £500 mark", without hesitation, the guy just said, "£500 it is" and that's what I paid!

Annoying as it is, I think the best strategy is to get on the phone - spend the time, and go back & forth between a few if they are willing to compete.

For reference, I'm 32, 7 years NCB, no accidents/convictions, live in Newbury/west Berkshire. I think I had 8k miles per year as my estimate.

Good luck!

That's a great price, particular with modifications. Admiral is who I'm with currently but they're coming in quite high so perhaps the phone call approach is the way to go.

I went with Admiral Previously as they lured me in with a brilliant multi car price. But the renewal was astronomical and as I had aligned several cars to the same renewal date on this policy it was a mistake I’ll never make again so be warned

For the mustang I’m with A Plan but their thatcham branch which specialises in modified cars. (You’ll get a better price from that branch)

Very competitive even on renewal but also sensible with mods. For example they didn’t charge for fitting a H pipe to the mustang !

As Alfa Male - I changed from Admiral to A Plan (Thatcham Branch) and saved £££s. Great service too

Unless you have the same postcode, same driving experience, Same job, same points or no points on your licence and same modifications on an identical car then it’s a pointless quest asking for insurance recommendations really, everybody’s is different! I read good things about this A-plan lot but they gave me a shite quote which was beaten by Direct Line surprisingly. Also was previously with admiral on multi car but same as others they wanted silly money at renewal so went elsewhere. Mines currently just short of £400 but that’s ungaraged overnight and I’m in the motor trade so always get bummed over on quotes for that for some reason!

Thanks all, I'll make a few calls to see if I can get a better quote.

Also A-Plan. Car has a fair few mods, though all cosmetic or suspension, no power. Direct Line wouldn't touch spacers (though they did with others' cars) and Admiral were obstructive, even when I called them.
A-Plan are easy to deal with though be sure to check policy conditions if you go through them. My first year the policy had a 500 limit on the windscreen cover and our screens are considerably more expensive than that.
I'm 50, no points, one non-fault claim. Car is garaged in not too bad an area. Currently paying 277 I think.

We have a partnership ongoing with SKY Insurance.

If you sign up with them you will get a discount code exclusive to your policy meaning that if you buy enough cool stuff from US, you might end up with free insurance in practical terms!

Sky insurance are a great company who we use ourselves for many years and are very "modified cars" friendly....

give them a call....

Lol, North East Scotland. There's about a £40 brokerage charge on top of that but generally happy with the price. Hope I never have to find out how good the service it however...

I paid £283.36 to Churchill for my Bullitt, but like others say it depends on lots of factors, max no claims, ltd mileage, age, I'm over 50 living in Kent, so I guess you cannot compare accurately. Will have a look at SKY on renewal.
