If you don't want to buy expensive tires then don't. There are plenty of good options for the casual driver.

However if your serious about driving, grip and/or safety then you gotta pay to play.

I don't think "tire-snob" is an appropriate term. I would probably go with Performance Enthusiast or something of the like.

Bit of a haze and a touch darker than pale. Without a view of the lower portion of the carboy to see what's settled out, I'd guess an IPA. It looks a lot like my 7/70 (7 additions totaling 70 IBU).

Edit, I just realized the irony in this. I had a coworker about 12-15 years ago who was one of those people that had a nickname for everyone. As soon as he found out that I brewed beer, he dubbed me "Dave the brew guy." We became friends, I taught him to brew, the name stuck. I was "Dave the brew guy" on a couple beer sites and I've been Dave TBG on other forums ever since.
