Changed my performance blue to the HEP last week for a GT350 at MSRP. Interior is also supposed to have black recaros with red stiching instead of white. Still probably too much for the HEP but it looks too good to pass up! I have a VIN and it states production the week of Feb 24th. So assuming delivery early April, but maybe a bit longer as I'm up in Canada.
I believe the interior seats with the red stitching are for the R only.

Once I get a vin where do I need to go to find build info ? On the subject of vin when is that issued ?

My dealer gave me my VIN last week...my order was initially on Nov 7. Unfortunately (for me) the site only does US Customer orders. When I put my VIN in it says it is not a valid US VIN. Pretty ridiculous that just because I'm purchasing from a Canadian dealer I can't check the status of my car. I'll have to bug my dealer every week for updates.

I believe the interior seats with the red stitching are for the R only.
That is my understanding as well with only the R model getting all black seats with red stitching.

I also understand that both models will get the Wimbledon White paint and Guardsman Blue OTT stripes and also Guardsman Blue side stripes.

Additionally each model will get front and rear exterior badges in Guardsman Blue along with a unique dash badge chassis number.

I was able to track my order from a dealer in Winnipeg through trackmymustang.com

My understanding for each of the new 2020 GT350/R cars with each car coming with the new HEP option will consist as follows:

Front and rear Blue Badges and possibly a revised car cover option.

Wimbledon White paint and Guardsman Blue OTT vinyl stripes and lower body Guardsman Blue vinyl stripes.

A different interior seating package which originally consisted of Red side bolster and Red side support seats for the 2020 R models will be replaced by an all Black Recaro seat configuration while still retaining with the Recaro "R" logo and Red stitching on the seats for the R model optioned cars.

All OEM brake rotors and Red brake calipers will remain as is based on the last couple of years.

Additionally a unique chassis badge for each of the 2020 GT350/R HEP optioned cars will come with a Blue chassis plate number and unique designation for each of our cars.

I’m in-between cars
Was at Barrett-Jackson 2019 Scottsdale just for a day. Priorities were to cover the sale of the Blaney Bronco. At the end of the day, I did shoot the Heritage, did not shoot the whole car as I mainly focused on the OVC GT350R that has been a major point of my career with the Hot Rod Magazine July 2019 cover story and helping get this car on Jay Leno’s Garage.

But you can see the difference between wimbledon white 1965 and 2020. It’s a little lighter but you guys will not be disappointed. Hopefully someone else was there who got a cellphone shot.

Some GREAT shots there Wildcardfox! Thanks for putting them up. Certainly can see the difference. We had a 70' Boss 302 in WW for a few years really liked that color. Now Ford has a in-between white with the 350 Heritage edition would it be safe to say "Wimford White" ? Sure wish this colored was offered from the get go with this generation.

Thank you. It’s definitely creamier than Oxford, I wish they would’ve matched the original color exactly, however it is still nice and everyone will enjoy it.

I also spent a great deal of time around both the 1965 Competition car and the 2020 GT350R with the HEP option over the last couple of days and especially enjoyed talking extensively with Jim Marietta about the OVC cars.

During discussions around these cars I also commented on the difference in color between the 1965 and the 2020 cars as the difference was very noticeable to both of us. I was told that the lighting directly over the 2020 R was making the difference and that the colors were exactly the same. Hopefully that was the case as I really like Wimbledon White as I have had it on 3 other Mustangs from the past.

I was also told that the unique Blue chassis plates for these cars will have their own series designation as in "L001" and "LR001" and was also very happy to hear that the Red inserts on the seat and side bolster areas will be gone which would have clashed with the rest of the car at least in my opinion.

Unfortunately the brake calipers will remain Red with only one car coming with Blue brake calipers and that will be the very last GT350R/HEP built for 2020 with that car going to Bill Ford.

His car will also come with Painted Guardsman Blue OTT stripes and Blue seat inserts instead of the Black seats that the rest of us will get.

In any event the 2020 R with the HEP is going to perform and look outstanding and can't wait to take delivery of my car.

Excellent photos and information, Wildcarfox and PP0001! Thank you for sharing all of it. Those cars are both so beautiful.

If the last 2020 GT350R HEP is going to Bill Ford, that seems like a pretty good sign the 350 production is ending with the 2020 model year, right?

Thank you PP0001 and Wildcardfox for sharing your experiences in Scottsdale, do you all know if there is any further photos circulating of the GT350R with HEP from this event?

Jim Marietta is good friend. The OVC family, all of Shelby American and Shelby International and myself had a great 2019 with my Shelby story being one of the biggest hits for MotorTrend Group and Hot Rod Magazine. Even Señor Bondurant got in on the fun celebrating his inaugural drive of the GT350 Competition aka GT350R back in my home of Riverside CA at the lost track of Riverside International Raceway. For Jim and I, I’m sure we’re going to have a great 2020, as we’ve got new stuff in the pipe that is cooking.

I didn’t see Jim or any of the team at Barrett and only ran past their car as we were swamped with media duties for the Blaney Bronco that sold for $650,000.

I hope that the colors are same under natural lighting. Being a professional photographer, I would be surprised if a light could cause that drastic of a change, but I will ask Jim Owens when I see him because I know that this speciality model is his brainchild.

Thanks for posting some terrific pictures of not only some very cool cars but also of Jim and many of the OVC family and SA. We really appreciate and especially myself included you taking time to provide all of Shelby/Mustang enthusiasts with an insiders look with respect to all things Mustang, Shelby and especially the remaining OVC gentlemen that made this all happen back in 1965, 1966 and 1967.

As far as my time spent speaking with Jim Marietta about all things Shelby Mustang and in particular the original competition cars and now the new OVC Shelby GT350 Competition cars I can honestly say that the hour or so that Jim spent with me is one of the highlights of my 50+ years around all things Mustang.

What an incredibly kind, thoughtful, interesting and genuine gentleman to spend time with and can only imagine what it is like to be in your shoes in order to rub shoulders with these icons on a regular basis.

With respect to Jim Owens and this HEP option being his brainchild for the 2020 GT350/R, I recently spent some time with Jim as I wanted to fully understand the story and background as to how the HEP option for the 2020 GT350/R models all came about and once he provided the background and details as only Jim can it was a very interesting conversation to say the least.

If it was not for me intending to retire hopefully later this year I can honestly say that I would be all in on one of the 36 OVC GT350 Competition cars and of course the donor car would have to be a "K" code body just as I had back in the day.

Thanks again for posting such cool stuff and can't wait for my car to arrive hopefully this coming Spring!
