Not sure if this is the right thread to post but here goes...When running my 18 GT, 6sp through the gears, I noticed I hit the rev limiter before redline...Is this normal? Red line is 7400rpm's and I would figure the limiter would kick in maybe a couple hundred rpm's later, 7600 maybe? Watching the tack and the digital display it looks lie the party ends around 7100-7200rpm's? Could it be I am actually turning the engine higher than this and am experiencing tach lag? Anyone have any experience with this? Running Shell 93 premimum does not seem to make any difference btw.

The only way to know is to data log the rpms. I found on my drag car i was wrong about what rpm i observed at shift, about 250 rpm to be exact.

There's probably a fuel cut before that 7500 rpm redline so you can't get up there during acceleration.

It's probably set a bit lower than redline to ensure you don't spin it up there either by momentum by depressing the clutch while still on the gas.

I've seen 7700 on my '18 GT without hitting the limiter. I could be off by 50-100 reading the dial on that adrenaline level, but it's definitely been above the 7500 mark for sure. In fact, I don't ever recall hitting the limiter yet.

What are other owners seeing on the rev limiter? I just figured that the red line is 7400 and the car should at least be able to rev to that...otherwise what is the point if the rev limiter cuts the fun before you reach the red line.

My GT rev'd 7500 before the tune. At least that what it looked like on the tach

I think it's more likely you're seeing lag in the tachometer display than not reaching the redline. Typical display design would provide some smoothing of signal shown on the display to prevent jitter and bumping during normal operation.

If you want to find out for sure, slide up to redline a bit slower and see how far you can get before the fuel cutoff comes in.

Mine shifts at around 7400. I did accidentally hit the rev limiter once when in sport mode after using the paddles but I am not sure what RPM it was. Definitely north of 7400, though.

My Rev limiter is above 7200 as I hit it twice before. Lastly if you get it tuned that will change and they will be able to tell you. The 18+ has like a child protection setting for rev limiter. Are you sure that’s not on under the “my key” setting?

My car is a 6sp manual but not sure if that makes any difference. If I floor it in first, I have to watch the tach very closely and shift early, 7100-7200, to not hit the limiter. Maybe it is tach lag. I will try rolling into the throttle slower in second or third gear to see if or where the limiter ends the fun.
I will also check “my key” settings for any rev limit settings.

I can spin mine up to 7400/7500 rpms without issue. I haven't hit the limiter, nor have I tried to go higher.

EDIT: 2019 GT pp1 also the 6 speed.

I have the 12” digital display which may throw another variable into the equation also.

So do I. And my car doesn’t cut off until above 7200 and I have a manual.

For reference, my car is M6 with analog gauges.

Mine also hits rev limiter before 7400 redline, usually 7200 rpms.

6 speed digital dash PP1.
