Are the standard mirror caps easy to get on and off and is there a special technique to removal ?

They are easy to remove when you’ve done it a few times and got the knack. You’ll need a plastic trim removal tool, gently prise the corner back slide tool in the gap then slide tool round black mirror ‘ring’ and it will pop off

Slight update on this one as thought I’d share images of the mirror caps after a Professional detailer has gone over and rectified some of the marring / defects to show the end result. He has also applied a coat of ceramic coating to them too to give some UV protection

Not bad for a home DIY effort I’d suggest !
