As a new owner of a 2019 GT350R that came from a 5 month ownership of a 2018 GT350 I voted both. If you don't plan to keep your car long term and never track it....Honestly just driving mine on the street the differences are insignificant. I will admit it sounds better but the resonator delete will take care of that. I do like the looks slightly better also but pure street driving I don't think the seat of the pants feel is much different. The GT350R feels slightly more responsive but very slight IMO.

I did track my GT350 once and had a blast so I plan to do more that was probably the biggest reason besides planning to keep the car longer. Getting a great deal on a new R with my trade in was icing on the cake.

I expect the track capabilities of the GT350R to be better but honestly the GT350 was more than enough for my abilities.

I do plan to keep her long term and also track her several times a year, thanks for your input!

I voted it is worth it BUT for the reasons it said ...TRACK and Resale

However, if it said the NON R is a better value for the option of heated and cooled seats/fold down rear seats, and better initial price, I'd select that

Because they are ALL true ...the reason for R, and reasons for non R

Been there done that. The R is special for many reasons. First and foremost is limited production. Next is the performance on the track. What makes the R an R is the wheels, wing, splitter, suspension, etc. What really makes an R special is the VIN. Many buy a non R and do all the various mods that bring it up to near R spec. However at the end of the day, it is not an R. I track one of my Rs. The car is flat out amazing. What it can do in the hands of a skilled driver is jaw dropping.

However

Buy an R for what it was built for..... the track. I see so many buy them and drive them to cars and coffee or install back seats to take their kids to school. Whatever. If you are not taking it to the track, get the non R. You can realize almost the same performance of the R by swapping out the wheels and tires with forged aluminum wheels and soft R compound tires.

If you are buying for investment purposes, well that is another aspect of one over the other. The R better retains its value. Period. I'm trading in mine towards a 500CFTP for almost what I paid for it new.

Anyway, the Rs are worth the extra money. What you do with it is up to you.... track it, cars and coffee, install a back seat and take the kids to school, whatever. The value is in the VIN.

I debated. But I will track mine maybe 3-4 times a year and drive it on the street a lot more. The roads are so bad here I would not want to daily the CF wheels which is a huge part of the R. I also would have had to have added backseats as I like to take the kids in the car occasionally, and I when you factor all this in the R made less sense for my purposes.

You can’t really go wrong. Resale is not really great on either car, but likely to be better with the R as long as you don’t overpay.

I stated both...

However, the reason I ended up going with the R is I have yet to see more than a couple in my area. I was looking hard at both the 350 and R for a while. The only reason I was hesitant for the R initially was the cup 2 tires and cf wheels. But sat in the 350 and wasn't impressed with the normal seat. It felt just like my '13 gt500 seat, just heated and cooled... So, shopping around at different dealer ships, there's one with a black no stripes R. I go to look at it and just think "wow". There were some paint issues and they were going to send it back to ford for repair. I talked to them for a little bit, and they offered to let me test drive it. Sat in the seat, and felt really comfortable; and I'm a 6 ft 230 lb guy. The wife also found the seats really comfortable. Took it for a test drive and though, "yep this is the car". So ended up getting the car for msrp, good deal on trade for the 500, got all the paint issues fixed under warranty and purchased a set of wheels and tires for normal driving. I might track the car, but I purchased the car to enjoy. If I do decide to sell later, hopefully resale values hold.... but cars might be flying by then.

I know new cars depreciate but I’m shocked on how low used 350s have gotten. Even more surprised on how terrible the used 350R market is. It seems nothing is moving either. Could be the time of year or the new GT500.

I have 2 Rs and don’t track either. I bought them because they are rare and unique. Heck most people that own the 350 don’t use them for what are intended for but who cares.

This is the first time I got black and so far have been enjoying it. Ive owned a few white cars. But the white or blue with the mustang you cant go wrong. I personally like them without the stripes. But if you want you can always get a non-striped car and there are may options to add stripes, even custom to make it unique.

I had GT500 and some of the stripes were messed up. Got them replaced, but the cost through ford was crazy...
