Let’s see an experienced Nurburgring driver practice a few weeks with a GT500 CFTP car.

Wish Ford would officially enter the laptime game, but I'm sure someone will run the CFTP car at the Ring. How could you not?

That really could be something.

Really if ford wanted to they could really put out a KR without much effort.

CCB, Cup2R tires, lightweight glass, AC optional, carbon backed seats.

Yes, msrp would be up another 10-12k, but it would be 100-120lbs lighter than the CFTP and truly be next level. It is fantastic as is though.

Great video. Man I miss the old motortrend head to head comparisons.
They are still making them and you can see all the old ones online as well. They are fun to watch. Basically I'm saying there's no need to miss them.

Brilliant video.

the craziest part??? The Shelby would have won if it had the same tires.

https://www.tirebuyer.com/education/first-look-michelin-pilot-cup2-r

I wonder if ford would use the Cup2R on a KR version like the GT3RS.

Worth 0.5s/km. Holy shit.
The R must have been on regular Cup 2’s it was an individuals car not from Porsche . I wouldn’t pay 900 a tire either fir the R’s lol . No way it’s slower than a 350R anywhere on the same tire . A cup 2R would worth over 2 seconds on that track , it is literally the racing slick compound and 100% a cheater tire , which it had in the lightning lap running a 2:41x on the grand course .still super impressive to match the RS on the same tire !

I know, I've seen them....not the same chemistry. Not bad, just not the same.

I wouldn’t assume that.

The 991.2 GT3RS has the Cup2R as standard equipment. It’s possible it had regular Cup2, but can’t be certain.

Shit, even exotics racing is using the Cup2R now.

I thought the cup2 r were optional on the 2019, not OEM. Don’t know about the 2020 tho.

Seemed like there was a lot more steering correction needed to keep the GT3RS on course around the track?

Randy loves the Porsche and he was probably working really hard trying to go as fast as possible in it. :D

I was thinking the same thing. I was also thinking that he's go a lot more time behind the wheel of the Porsche and knows where the limits are. I bet he can make the GT500 go even faster with more time behind the wheel.

Not sure.

I just built a GT3RS online and it did not have a tire option.
Who knows.
Car and driver said they’re optional for their March instrument test.

AFAIK he drove Porsches in a racing series so he has a ton of track hours in rear engine Porsches.

I believe it depends on packages. If you get a base car I think they're Pirelli PZeros. If you get the Carbon brakes and/or the Weissach or Whatapp or Weiner Package or whatever it is, you get Cup Deuces.

I believe GT3 RS's are Cup 2's standard.
