Well I'm officially in the R Club. Got a 2019 Performance Blue with White Stripes for $5K under MSRP. Was able to work a good trade in for my 2018.

Now to answer my own questions:

1. Why? I just had to have it.
2. Do you regret it? Not yet.
3. Any friction with the wife? Surprisingly little, but she does like the new color better. Has kind of a Captain America feel to it :)

With less than 2 months of ownership Iā€™m tempted by the GT350R.

those of you that did the move:

1. Why?
2. Do you regret it?
3. Any friction with the wife?
I traded my 2017 (H1603) for 2018R (HR404) after having just owned the non R for less than a year.

1. I really liked the 350 but realized that 350R was what I I really wanted

2. absolutely no regret.

3 . The wife was not with me when I purchased the first 350 and she wasnā€™t very happy with that. She came along when we did the trade in and everything is well with her now.

congrats. Shouldnā€™t your R be JR404? Assumed a typo of itā€™s an ā€˜18.

Congrats and nice deal. Did I perhaps help you with the lead in the post #2166 I made? Or did you have your eye on it already?

It came to me via a CarGuru search I had saved, But I'm glad no one beat me to it because of your post :)
Cool. We're not that far apart. I'm over in Keller. The Mustang club does meets at Flips in Grapevine every 3rd Sunday of the month. I was able to attend the November meet.

Any friction with my wife?
My wife was with me when I made the trade. My advice to you is to always keep an open and honest dialogue with your significant other. Be real to yourself if the added cost will put any financial stress onto your family. If not, it shouldn't be an issue.
Where's the fun in that?

16 GT350, DIB, Tech package.
I traded in my 16 Tech Pack for a 20 R back in November.

I wasn't looking for an R, was actually considering buying a truck for more room for getting a car seat in and out. Saw the R online at a local dealer, and made the mistake of stopping by to check it out.

They offered me $1300 above KBB on my Tech Pack, and two days later I drove the R off the show room floor and home to my garage.

Why? Felt too good to turn down.
Regrets? I miss my DCTMS steering wheel, but beyond that no.
Wife? She wasn't thrilled about it, but she went with me to do the paperwork.

What kind of wheels are those on the blue 350?

I want to make the switch but prices in Canada are still out of control.

I think most non R owners wonder how much the driving upgrade would be going to an R

There are reasons I went standard (fat boy a/c seats, better deal, rear seats...but more to fold flat for space then actually having the seat, less front air splitter curb hits) but let's face it, anyone that bought a GT350 did it for the thrill so who wouldn't want more of that?

My question is the 19/20 MY are supposed to get a lot closer to the R, a lot of the performance times obtained seems to bring them rather close. Gurney "swing" has more downforce then the R wing, but I love the R wing.... a lot

Most of these trade up are pre 19 cars to get an R. Anyone trade up to an R with a 19 or 20 base GT350, and had it long enough to compare/contrast a 2019 or 2020 base to R?
