Hi Craig, great build thread..

I'd highly recommend adding some more rear end suspension to help put down the power like the Steeda vertical links and adjustable toe links.

Also we have some killer Velgen sale on this weekend if you wanted some lightweight wheels that will also allow you to run some nice wide rubber....
ÂŁ500 off the Velgen cast range and ÂŁ400 off the flow form VF5s

Good luck with continuing the build and hitting the 200!

Had the chance to take the car off the road for a bit to get some parts fitted.

Started with the headers, tidied up the garage and made space

Got the car in and pulled of the old headers and exhaust

neither header is easy to do but the driver side is just silly and access to 2 of the bolts on the passenger side again is just stupidly awkward to get at.
The driver side had to be cleared on 2 pipes to fit right. one to clear the steering shaft and the other to clear the gearbox bell housing at it was just touching and stopping the bolt holes lining up.

bit of heat and a hammer and it all lined up.

Cats are just bolted up loosely for now. will be lined up when i make the mid pipes. View attachment 420104

Next up was the rear end. A 3.15 diff and GT350 half shafts went in with no hassle along with Eibach lowering springs from Ford.

3.55 diff out

The part of the spring swap no one likes

GT350 vs GT shafts, passenger side.
Shaft on Gt is 38mm tapering down to 31mm
GT350 is 33.5mm all along. no taper can be seen.
The CV on the 350's are 100mm diameter and the Gt's are 94mm.
Drivers side seem to be identical in sizes.

Last up for today are the wheels. While buying all the bits to improve performance i was still struggling to put the power down through the standard tyre sizes. 275's just haven't got enough foot print to put near 700whp tot he ground so a wider wheel/tyre set was needed.

I looked at a lot and decided on SVE R350's from LMR. Down side was they no longer ship to the UK. so i had to bring them over via ship7/stackry sites. While buying i got carried away and ended up with 2 sets.

The plan was to buy 6 wheels. A set of 4 for everday use and 2 spares for the 200mph runs as i need to run a specific tyre size to get over 200. I got carried away and now have 2 sets.

1 set in grey and 1 set in black. the grey set will go up for sale after the speed runs are done.

19x10 and 19x11

iFVEFMY.jpg

road use will be 285/3519 front and 325/30/19 rears.

For the speed runs i will swap the rears for a 19x10 wheels in grey with 285/40/19 to give the correct gearing for 211mph in 5th

Front tyres will be here in a few days and the other 2 black wheels are getting collected tomorrow from the powder coaters near me. the wheel sets i bought are seconds, they have very small marks or tiny chips in paint so i got a good deal on them.

Near 800bhp 700lbft+ and I bet I can still spin them up with ease.

yeah they'll still spin easy, which headers did you end up going with in the end as I hear the new version of kooks don't require clearance bashing any more

There labelled as Tog headers but they are clearly xforce with small adjustments to avoid legal action I guess. Will be made in the same factory in China. Came from Australian eBay. Bout 500 delivered.

pick of them next to xforce. Pic is from @SpArKy

Been following - very cool :sunglasses:

I don’t know which is which, but the headers on the right seem to have had a bit more care taken during manufacture.

:cwl: the ones on the right are the cheap ebay version. Unfortunately they come without midpipes though so not quite as big a saving as first seemed, but xforce sell them seperately and i have them on order, just hoping they line up (putting them sideby side looked like they will b the same).

The slotted bolt holes in the xforce headers look like they'll make install easier, i think craig slotted some of his before fitting, i plan to do the same (well, not me, JWR will)

I slotted all the top holes on the drivers side and passengers side. Left the bottom ones alone.

left ones look like they've been port matched and smoothed to the head diameter ones on right look like just raw welds but apart from that for the cost the quality looks spot on, shame we're not in aussie land since they're like ÂŁ290 over there ! we double up on shipping cost :(

Thats some cheap headers for stainless and tig welded !

Back on its wheels. Had a slight setback with a tune but all good now. Going to get a few miles on it over Christmas then back on the lift and recheck everything. Make sure there’s no issues and all is still tight.

Like the side view picture, makes the car look smaller than usual.

I've got 19x11 rear wheels wearing 305s.
Didn't think I'd be able to squeeze 325s on.
Seating & clearances ok?

Sorry if I've missed it, but did the springs lower the car or was it just a change in rating? Furthermore, do you plan to do anything with/to the ARBs?

I've got some GT350R ARBs on order, but having issues sourcing some bushes.

Enjoying this thread, keep going!
