PP1 wheels on 17 GT with 3.31

Scored what I think is a great deal on some 2019 PP1 wheels and tires from Shelby Auctions on eBay. Less than $1100 for brand new rims wrapped in Michelin 4s.

Had anyone else put these on a
15-17 GT manual 3.31 car? How did it feel from an acceleration perspective? Just wondering if anyone felt that the car felt lazy after the switch due to the extra rotational mass. I have not installed them yet.

I did the same thing, got a set of 19 takeoffs for ~$900 shipped on ebay. They're heavy compared to the 18 inchers but the 4S are absolutely fantastic tires and vastly outweigh (pun intended) the heft of the size increase. I have a 17 with 3.31 gears and its really hard to compare because the 4S grip so much better. Ride is smoother and handling is improved. Please note: you won't be able to space these out with 1 inch spacers with the michelin tires, they're so much fatter than the pirellis the 15-17 PP cars had.

I ended up swapping to a set of 19x9.5 Shelby wheels and carrying the tires over, but only because the PP1 wheels are such a gigantic pain in the ass to maintain.

I bought the PP1 wheels for my Base 17' GT. Biggest noticeable difference over those junk Neros was grip when accelerating. A lot less wheelspin.

Not sure how long i'll keep them though. Prefer a squared setup so i can rotate the fronts to rears and get more treadlife out of the tires.

Yeah, and you're clearly lowered with more camber. Mine stuck out so far past the fender I couldn't even risk driving it, plus it looked stupid.

I actually had it aligned after getting lowered to have everything (including camber) to be within factory specs.

Are you sure they were stock wheels and 275s?

I too once had a slammed car with PP wheels and 275 P4Ss with a 1" spacer and zero rubbing. I even did a full track day on them so it's not like I was just putting around. OEM alignment that has not been touched since it left the Ford factory in 2016.

I have the PP1s that I swapped onto my 2015 GT with the 3.31, I couldnt tell any difference in power between them and the OEM 18s, just alot less wheel spin. My car makes 415whp if that helps.

Nice deal!. The tires is what are important. you can probably pawn off the wheels and TPS for a cool $600 and maybe more.

All the wheels weigh about the same, around 30lbs give or take a sammich.

And you will be fine perfectly fine with PP1 wheels.

Ford Performance has wheels that are very close in look to the factory ones, and can be had for way less than the dealer.

Note you're gear ratio will be even taller since the rear tire diameter is larger what you currently have - which will add to laziness - more than weight - however these are heavier than other Mustang wheels quite noticeably. Talk about spacer is obvious nonsense, PS4S sizes are exactly same as P Zero on 15-17.

I got the same set up for $800 from Shelby new I have 3.55 gears.
