Is there a height difference between the stock and barton hybrid 3 shifter?

Im asking because i think my '17 gt may have an upgraded shifter. I'm inclined to think so because it shifts smooth and precise and ive never been locked out. I've owned it since septembet, came with a borla s catback installed too.

Why I also believe it may not be stock is looking at stock interior pics, the stock shifter looks taller than mine...i think. I can rest my forearm on the console and my hand sits comfortably on the ball. My wrist is not bent at am awkward angle or anything. Sounds silly but before i rip my console apart to look i just want to confirm. Im assuming the hybrid 3 because it has the stock knob and lockout collar.

My only doubt that it may not be is because side to side play isn't super stiff, im only talking about experience from t-5 shifters like the steeda tri ax which had very stiff side to side movement.

I was going to buy myself an early christmas present but may not be needed. To be honest it shifts perfect and like i said ive never been locked out. So either i got a good mt-82 (judging from all the complaints) or my shifter is already upgraded.

Pics would help if anyone has some of their barton setup with stock knob/collar

Thanks

You’ll see my photos of Barton hybrid 3 here. Absolutely love mine, you use a metal lock out collar not the oem plastic.

I installed the side to side springs originally in Barton kit

one block I drove back and tossed them off, I like easier shifting not flexing muscles to go left and right to shift

The oem lockout collar is plastic? I guess the stock it's painted chrome?

After seeing your pic that height looks similar to mine. I may have to take apart my console and look now. unfortunately I can't get out to look at it until late tonight. It's been driving me crazy all day haha

Wouldn’t it be easier to look under the car?

No, the parking lot is ice slush and crap and I don't have my jacking rails yet, not to mention my jack is at my in laws and they have 0 driveway space because they store a trailer and have a tempo.

Taking apart the console took like 15min anyways. but alas, it's just a stock shifter with plastic collar and FoMoCo on the boot. Guess I just have a good shifting mt-82. All I've read are complaints about how it's notchy as hell, people getting locked in first during WOT and how it's like shifting through a bucket of gravel.

I don't know if the original owner had the recommended tranny fluid put it in or not but even during the cold days below -15 it shifted fine and felt a BIT notchy/clunky until it warmed up. It's pretty much on par with best shifting transmission I've had. At this point I want a barton but at 475 USD and having no complaints about it with it being stock....I'm not really motivated. Would rather get a 2018 ported manifold

Understood, great you have a good one.
Mine shifts ok, my big gripe is the CLUNK I get when shifting which is apparently inherent with the PP with the Torsen differential.

Barton Hybrid 3 trans mounted on 2019 Bullitt. It feels and shifts light years better than the crap Ford puts in Mustangs now.

Nice, did you mount it on the transmission or the body?
