UPDATE: 12-19-19
Looks like repairs are going to be about $13,000
Body shop is sending supplement estimate to insurance, just playing the waiting game now.

Wrecked my 2017 GT 12/4/19 and had a few questions for someone smarter than me about the possible extent of the damages. I've never had an accident like this before. I've had 2 fender benders in my life and that's it.
I just really want some opinions on what the community thinks I'm looking at on repair or possibly totaled.
I personally don't think it's totaled but I've seen posts with what appears to be less damage that gets totaled, so you never know.
I can see the radiator and the condenser is bent up. but can't see much more. I did catch a little air, and came down on the front pretty good.
I was not at fault and the other party's insurance has confirmed they will cover everything and accept full responsibility for my car as well as the Cadillac I swiped. I added a link to my dashcam footage that I posted to youtube for the claims guy.
My camera actually corrupted the video but I was able to use some software to get it back, The audio is bad for that reason.

My opinion? If that person didn't stop and make sure you were OK, and exchange information for fucking up, and being a fucking idiot, he is a piece of shit.

Also, two people are luck they were not in a head on collision, or side struck hard. Good job man.

Thanks, did my best to avoid a head-on collision. She did stop and make sure everyone was ok. First thing she said was " I didnt even see you" some people shouldn't be on the road. She actually denied liability and told her insurance agent that I came out of nowhere. Said I must have been speeding. She had no idea I had a dashcam. Absolutely the best thing you can buy for your vehicle is a dashcam.

Wholesale value is about $23k, so I would say it isn't totaled but it's getting close.

Send info on your dash cam. I want one. Hard to set up? Smallish out of sight? Glad you’re being taken care of.

here’s. Question. Say you was going to be at fault and you have a dash cam, can you simply refuse to hand over your video? What happens if someone removed the footage during a serious wreck?

I mean not saying I want it but if it’s not in my best interest, I would click delete footage myself

Dash cams are a double edged sword. Legally it’s evidence of a crime has been committed. Deleting the evidence would be a felony.

OP they will fix it as long as that rear quarter doesn’t have to be replaced. Replacing a rear quarter is very expensive.

Depending on the insurance company, they tend to total them at damage of 80% or more of the value of the vehicle. The hard part of the decision is making a guess as to whether there's hidden damage. Wifey's dang near new Nissan Titan got sideswiped last year by a 2005 Taurus of all things. Taurus driver bounced off the truck and went across 3 lanes of traffic and into a ditch on the other side of the highway. Had a bashed door and front bumper, set of the side curtain air bag, but didn't think for a second it was totaled. Sure enough, the frame was bent to diamond shape. Geico said, here's your check, the truck is ours. You'll never be made whole on a total - they don't reimburse tax, title and license on a replacement vehicle, but that's what you need to find out about the car - is the frame part of the structure bent.

That's my worry is what might be damaged underneath. Both my doors seem to be off just a hair when closing. Not enough to see but i can feel the slight bumper that wasn't there before when shutting the doors.
The claims adjuster will be out today at 1 and then see what the body shop has to say. I'm just stressed to hell. and this time of the year just makes it worse.

Sorry you’re dealing with this. Can’t believe she pulled the “I didn’t see you” BS.

She must’ve forgot to add “while I was posting on Facebook” part.

Glad your ok, assuming it’s fixable you need to get a diminished value claim filed against her insurance co, you will take a hit when trading or selling it, some places won’t take it with accident history or give u auction amount.

Happy to see no one was hurt. The biggest issue will be a lot of wasted time and hassle. I hope the process goes well and either repair or payment comes quickly.

Glad you are ok. Looks like a dangerous stretch of road.
