Ford won’t pass on the profit. Look at the GT350. Wasn’t that only going to be a 3 year run???
Year 5 now. Maybe I’m wrong.

I’ve seen articles where Ford stated that it will not just be a 2020, I’m guessing a 3+ year run, probably 5-7K cars per year.

Bump, saw the info today that ford will be showing a new mustang in spring 2020, does this mean that 2020 will be the last MY of the s550??? Or just another refresh?? Also saw that they will be discontinuing the V8’s after 2024... does anyone have any info regarding if the GT500 will get at least one more model year????

Does new Mustang mean a new version? Mach 1. Boss.

That’s what I’m wondering.... New chassis?? Another facelift?? Or maybe just a new version like the Mach 1.

The word is a Mach 1 version is coming for the 2021 model year to replace the Bullitt.

Hopefully that’s the case, I want to order a 2021 GT500 and that’d really suck if they only produced them for 2020.

GT500 will not be a one or even two-year run. I expect it will be in production until the next generation Mustang is introduced, I do, however, believe we will not see the GT350/GT350R built concurrently with the GT500 after the 2020 model year.

Grab one of the last great ICE vehicles of all time while you can boys. The electric and hybrid age is upon us.
Sadly that seems like the truth. Sucks that ford is doing away with v8’s in my lifetime:(

I'd figure 3 years, and like the other Ford specialty performance cars, the GT (etc) will get facelifted and it will retain its same design.

I bet Ford does a MY21 facelift, and builds a non-Shelby GT350 replacement that's the GT body + GT350 components but with a CPC based motor (possibly 5.2L). I could even see maybe putting the Tremec manual into this flavor - hell, I could see them totally removing manuals from the "generic" GT line, and making the Mach I/Boss/PP3 <whatever> be the only option for a manual V8 mustang.

There are rumors of an S550 facelift for the '21MY........and a Mach 1 joining the line up.

However, I believe the GT500 would skip any such facelift, externally at least. The GT500 kept the "old" headlamps as it shared the carbon radiator support from the GT350 and if they chose not to change that for a new GT500 I very much doubt they'll change it for a mild facelift.

However, if S550 face lift brings interior changes, I can see the GT500 adopting those (I'm thinking a 10" screen with Sync 4)

That would definitely be cool, lil more spendy but nonetheless I’d still buy.
