So I wanna widen a set of Ford Black out wheels, but there 18x8.5 & only 42.5 back space

I want to widen them another 1.5 inches and make them 19x10 but with an offset of 42.5 will I be able to run a 305/35/19 and not have them poke out in the rear of the car?

I know the minimum width for a 305/35/19 is 10 so it may not be ideal (19x11)but it will still be safe going 19x10

Anyone do this or have an opinion?

you'll be hard-pressed to get 305/35 to fit correctly on only a 10" wide rim. If you want to run 11" wide tires, run the wheels to match. And how exactly are you going to convert a 8.5et42 into a 10et42? You're going to cut the back lip off, weld in a strip of material and then weld the original lip back on? Your new ET isn't going to be remotely 42, it'll be 42+19=61. Surely you can find equally if not far better looking wheels than what Ford provides. They'll have the correct offsets and won't be a welded-up bodge job with multiple extra failure points. Philly streets are hardly what I'd call wheel friendly. I cringed plenty this afternoon coming up 95 and 476 and I was in the pickup.

The tire would fit, Mickey shows a 10 will work and I’m not so sure your math right?

My cars a toy, I only drive it 4000k a Yr but I get it, Pa isn’t very forgiving when it comes to potholes

There’s a shop in Cali that does them and there done correctly but I need to find out how this effect back space

Centerline Rev 7 looks very similar, is availible in 10.5", you don't have to worry if it was widened right, and is probably cheaper than widening your existing wheels.

Is widening wheels really a thing?! This sounds like an accident waiting to happen, similar to cutting springs to lower the car.

I mean, I understand if new wheels are over the budget, but deliberately adding more points of failure via a sketchy process??? New wheels are expensive but having a wheel failure on the highway and totaling your car sounds a lot more expensive.

It’s safe, shops can do it
Cost was the factor, I couldn’t justify the cost of widening my stockers so..

I ordered SVE R325’s for 600 to the door, an amazing deal for 19x10/19x11 setup

My GT will look sick in a few days

Shops can do a lot of things, that doesn't make it safe.

Glad you purchased quality flow formed wheels rather than widening heavy, cast OEM wheels.

I had Weldcraft widen my factory California Special 19 x 8.5 42.5 rear wheels out to 10.5 and have a pair of 305 35 19 nitto 555 G2's on there and they dont poke. The widening is done all to the inside. I actually then put on 20mm spacers and they still dont poke. Weldcraft has been doing this for years, but its not cheap. I actually wish I would have had then widened out to 11" as there was room to do so with the spacers. There is a guy in California that does it but I contacted him and he was way behind and was considering retiring and told me he wouldnt do mine due to those reasons. The finished product from Weldcraft looks excellent, but you will have to repaint the inner barrels of your wheels if you go this way. Again, its expensive when you consider shipping. There are posts in the California Special section of others who have done the same.
