Car is. 2018 300A, 10R80 Whipple stage 1, PBD tuned on 93 octane.

I have notice that when the car is cold, specifically the transmission it holds gears longer. I usually start the car and let it idle for 3-5 min and then drive slowly until the car is up to operating temperature, engine and transmission. When the transmission is up to operating temperature 195f it shifts like butter.

shop is going to check the transmission fluid level Monday. Said they have seen another 10R80 slightly low in the “A” range in the dipstick, have seen a CTSV slightly low and a trackhawk.

I don’t see how a car with 1,400 miles could be slightly low but anything is possible. Has anyone else ever heard of this or experienced this issue?

I recall one or two owners with the A10 saying that their fluid was kind of low from the factory. Don't know if it's a widespread issue.

It's hard for me to imagine that Ford could get something as basic as that wrong--you'd think they'd have some automatic fill process that meters out the correct amount of fluid--but who knows.

There was a large thread on here when the 2018’s w/10R80’s hit the streets and owners were finding the trans was low on fluid right from Ford.

How many came off the assembly line like that is anyone’s guess - so there could be quite a few out there with low fluid...and who knows what damages (if any) it may cause from accumulation of miles driven.

There was also a SSM that Ford distributed because apparently the incorrect trans fluid was being used and the SSM states there is a specific fluid for the 10R80.

I started this thread which contains all of the S550 specific 10R80 Ford docs to date:

My 2018 was just at the stealership for being 2quarts low of trans fluid. They also stated they haves seen a few cars like that including some 2019’s. It was taking a while to engage into drive when warm. It now shifts so smooth, etc. it was shifting hard when it upshifted and downshifted. During this last summer it would engage into gear very harshly.

I just hope that the 20k miles with low trans fluid didn’t prematurely wear the transmission.

Crazy to me how this is happening. Poor quality control on fords part in my opinion.

Yea, I don’t understand it either... are they just popping transmissions in on the line and not even checking trans fluid levels?

I get that the 10R80 has no dipstick to check, but you would think that a brand new trans has to be checked and made sure it’s full before it leaves Flat Rock...

THAT is just totally ridiculous.... I’m really beginning to wonder how many S550 10R80’s are under filled... which may explain some of the jerky shifting or other known problems with the early 2018’s...

Mine was 2 qts low for about 12,000 miles symptoms didn't show till about the 9-10k mark then the dealer finally found the issue, trans still doesn't feel 100% but the dealer insists that its fine

I've seen a lot of earlier production A10's with fluid level issues. Check your build date, if it's a later date then I'm not sure. My car shifts like crap, lol. I had it reflashed, the bad shifts came back a few weeks later. I've asked the dealer probably 6 times to check my fluid level but they're never done it.

I hangout at Limitless Performance and Fabrication a lot. With that I've seen a lot of 10r80 cars come through each one was about 1-2 quarts low on fluid. Mine included.

My dealer said that my fluid was "good". Did they actually check it? I'm not sure, but I guess I'll take their word for it.

My 2018 was 1qt low. The trans fluid has to be at least 206* or more to check. It takes a lot to get it that hot.

Trans was making some noise (like you could hear parts tapping) added the 1qt and the noise was gone.

Not Really that to get it at 200+ temp when you have the T.B activated thru h.p Tuner’s lol
