Good morning everyone,
I know this question gets asked a lot and I had been holding off posting anything. As someone who owned a 2018 Ecoboost and now owns a 2019 GT I think I might be able to help a lot of people with real data. I love collecting data so I have every fuel-up I have had in every car logged for the most accurate results possible.
My commute has remained the same over the course of the data logging and I even took the same trip at the same time of year. I travel from Toronto to Chicago every November for Thanksgiving. Both cars have completed that trip and were used to drive me to and from work, along with weekend errands etc. I live in the city of Toronto so the vast majority of my driving is in the city. You could estimate 75% city and 25% highway. The only thing to keep in my mind is I had my Ecoboost for about a year and my GT is getting to six months in a few days but it should be pretty accurate.
Long story short:
Here is the data for anyone interested.
Ecoboost
GT
Feel free to ask any questions you might have, but I hope someone finds this helpful.

- Both cars were filled with either 91 or 93 based on what was available.
- The Ecoboost was given the Ford Performance Tune in the last three months of my ownership.
- The GT has been driven more (it's objectively more fun for me) and driven slightly harder
Long story short:
- The Ecoboost has better efficiency in the city by approximately 2-3 litres per 100km. Based on my driving habits.
- The GT and Ecoboost are very similar on the highway but the Ecoboost is slightly more efficient by 1-2 litres per 100km.
- You will need to fill up the GT more often depending on your driving (highway vs city, etc.)
Here is the data for anyone interested.
Ecoboost
- 32 Total Fill-ups
- 8.1 Litres/100KM is the best efficiency I achieved with the car (29 MPG)
- 12,817.6 Total KM's (7964.4 Miles)
- Average cost per KM $.0142 ($0.228 cost per Mile)
GT
- 20 Total Fill-ups
- 9.2 Litres/100KM is the best efficiency I achieved with the car (25.5 MPG)
- 7,296.5 Total KM's (4,533.8 Miles)
- Average cost per KM $0.181 ($0.291 cost per Mile)
Feel free to ask any questions you might have, but I hope someone finds this helpful.
