So when I installed my 18 GT Whipple kit (Stage 2) a few months ago it came with a 1-piece silicone hose from the TB to the MAF housing/filter assembly. Whipple indicated there's no closed air box option or the ability to use an intake tube like the 15-17 (silicone sleeves and removable tube in the middle - plastic or CF option).

I'm just checking to see if anyone is making a kit that DOESN'T use this silicone tube - mostly because it's a real bear to put on/take off (or at least it was a real bastard the first time.) I liked the simplicity of a couple clamps and being able to pull the intake inlet piping off for a number of reasons.

So - anything out there yet?

Check with them again, they have a closed unit now. This looks easier to install and remove since it's rubber-ish and looks like the end that connects to the MAF will have a lot of play in it

I have the early release version that had a carbon fiber tube and two silicone couplers. If you want it, I’ll make you a deal because I want to upgrade to the enclosed airbox.

Can confirm, the new enclosed system is pretty easy to put on. Although, they have you put the intake in before the throttle body. Not sure how easy it'd be to try and remove the intake without the throttle body for re-installation.

I'm interested in both ideas - assuming I can pry my old silicone tube out.

Not to intrude, but does anyone know if they offer something like this for the '15-17 Whipple kits with the stock TB? I really like the looks of this vs the supplied whipple silicone couplers/clamps.

Hey Will - how much are the closed air kits for those of us early adopters who got the open air kit only? How soon are they shipping?

Thanks man!

My pleasure, for the guy's who got the early kit's and want the plastic enclosed air box with the Rubber inlet tube it will be $325.00 plus shipping. They are currently shipping.

Thank you!

Lethal just quoted me $500 for the enclosed airbox upgrade for an early release 2018 kit. Seems high to me.

you should be able to sell your open one for a good amount, most people don't like the closed box and prefer the open style, or see if you can find someone to straight trade you

I posted that in the FS section and didn’t get any responses. I’d love to make the trade or trade+cash if someone were interested. Mine is even the early early one with the carbon fiber pipe.

The 15-17 stage 1 inlet tube is pretty sad and inclined to blow apart because of the awkward change in diameter. The stage 2 setup is much more solid and it’s another reason why 15-17 buyers looking for a whipple should go stage 2.

^ THIS. It's literally the only 'cheap' part in my opinion out of the entire kit. If they only had a rubber coupler from the TB to the MAF like the 18+ kits do, I would be 110% satisfied. I had to re-adjust my clamps a few times but finally got it all settled in so there were no issues with the tube/elbow being barely in the couplers.

Almost 5k of racing and driving on the setup, love everything else about it!
