If the test only changed fractions of MPG it would make sense. So the GT really made 18.4, and the BULLITT made 18.2, under new tests the GT gets 18.1 and the BULLITT gets 17.8. then GT ratings would have seemed to not change.
Funny how that works.

There’s one way for recouping the costs of tariffs... it all trickles down.

Looks like the car delivered to California shows base price 46,705 with 1000 added for the gas guzzler tax while the car delivered to New Jersey has a base price of 47,810. Looks like for NJ they just added the tax into the base price with some added as it is 105 more in NJ. But why the 1mpg difference on combined, city and highway from the 2019.

The pricing does not make sense. Base price is base price, it should not vary. Also the Ford site shows MSRP as $47,705. They clearly state that taxes are not included. The means the Gas Guzzler as it is a “tax”. The whole thing smells fishy.

By the way the gas guzzler tax on a GT350 sticker I looked at was shown as a line item for $2600.

S1: Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (also referred to as “MSRP”, “Base MSRP”, “Base Price” or the “Starting At” price), excludes destination/delivery charge, taxes, title, license, and registration and/or electronic filing fees, dealer fees, and total of options.

I was reading that the tax goes way up depending on mpg

If you look at this link for 2020 govt economy, 3 Mustangs are listed for gas guzzler tax (tax), Bullitt, GT350 & GT500. There was no engine/transmission changes in Bullitt from 2019 to 2020, what gives. Ford should answer these. Looks like some buyers might snap up 2019's while available instead of 2020. Might have hurt sales of 2019's if the gas guzzler tax was on it.

I guarantee you the window sticker was from a sales ad for a 2020 Bullitt, so yes, it's true :) :(

That appears to be part of the price increase along with the destination fee.

The base price for 2020 is $46,705, while in 2019 it was $46,595.

I think differently?

I was wondering when the 2019MY Bullitt came out about its mileage? I could not imagine this engine had the same fuel economy rating as the 5.0 GT? Knowing it had a GT-350 intake, a larger throttle body, and a big ass air filter. I believe the EPA came down hard on Ford in testing? Ford had to test through EPA guidelines and the results showed less than what was given to 2019MY. As a result Ford just couldn't slap the $1,000 tax during the manufacturing year when models were built and sold, dropping the cost of the base price to balance out the now imposed "Gas Guzzler Tax" they had to show on the Window Sticker.

I have been following this closely. My order for the 2020MY will be the first week on January for and early summer delivery. Pricing has been wacky. The base price increase from the 2019MY ($46,595) to the 2020MY was $1,215. On the window sticker, the 2020MY base price excluding destination was $47,810. Well that was just a couple weeks ago. Ford brought down the the price $1,105 to $46,705 and added the $1,000 gas guzzler tax recently on the window sticker. The new cost including the GGT in the optional equipment or other amounts to $47,705. Last month the 2020MY Bullitts on dealer lots were $47,810. Ford now has the the 2020MY Bullitt $105 less? I wonder why is the car currently $105 less? The Ford website does it a little different than the sticker, but still the same price. It does not have a gas guzzler tax listed under summary. When they changed the Website a couple weeks ago they just give the base of $47,705 instead of the $47,810 they had before.

Any thoughts?

Interesting. So if you had bought a regular GT and then brought it to Roush to have the Stage 3 parts installed you would have saved $2,100. I wonder if all tuner cars are subject to the GG tax.

Here's my take. MSRP is not "supposed" to include any taxes. Ford screwed up on the original 2020's to be built and added it. When the mistake was realized they lowered the MSRP and line listed the GGT. Now where that $105.00 comes from is anyones guess.

As to why the 2020 has the GGT and the 2019 doesn't. Here's my take on that. The EPA testing didn't change. If it did the regular GT most likely would have changed as well. There was no change to the Bullitt engine and no testing change. I believe there was a GGT on the 2019 and Ford ate it. They did not want the delta between a Bullitt and a similarly optioned GT to be too wide. With one model year under the Bullitt's belt, Ford decided it could afford to pass the GGT onto the buyer.

This is just my take, no facts, just opinions. what do you think?

Yeah,...but then no Roush Palladium wheels, upgraded axles, Roush stage 1 coilovers, Roush interior, and other little touches. That's why I went with buying the Roush Stage 3 instead of buying all that stuff afterwards. Would of cost me about me the same, (maybe more??), in parts/labor.
I'm not sure if all the "tuner" cars are subject to the gas guzzler tax? I wonder if the Super Snake has one? I think it does IIRC.

With around 8000 2019 Bullitt's that would mean Ford ate $8 million on the GGT, Ford is not that generous.

LOL Yeah, never mind. It sounded good while I was typing it.
What you said makes sense as if they tagged on the $1000 GGT on the 2019 you never know they might not have sold as many. Lets see if buyers scoop up the remainder of 2019 or go with 2020.

For me a 2020MY build. Electronics and MagneRide - MSRP $52,595. I'm still buying a build and this will not sway me to a 2019MY on a dealer lot. I negotiate in early January. The most accurate is NADA because they got the List pricing right. Edmunds is not bad too, but it still has the old list of $52,700. KBB nothing. Currently the invoice is $50,032. The fair market value would be around $50,832.

NADA: https://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2020/Ford/Mustang/Bullitt-Fastback/Pricing
Edmunds: https://www.edmunds.com/ford/mustang/2020/bullitt/options/?legacy=true
