What's the general consensus on how much WHP will cause an axle (Halfshaft) to break?

Are people experiencing only under hard launches or just instant WOT? I'm debating on replacing mine while it's in the shop and getting tuned.

I've made over 300 passes. And ran into the 9s on the stock axles. I'd only change em if your a manual. And plan on alot of drag racing.

It is difficult to tell. Some guys are running stock axles on boosted cars and not breaking them. Others have broken them in stock tune.

High rpm launches with a manual or automatics with a trans brake can be killers. Wheel hop can kill them, too.

If you intend to drag race, I would upgrade. If you are just planning on spirited street driving, you are probably OK with stock.

I'm boosted tvs2650 Edelbrock. Manual, 3.55, on 285 rears. I don't plan on drag racing it. I see there's a wide range of causes just from these few responses. For the guy with 300 passes on stock that gives me more confidence I'll keep mine stock for now.

I'm running an Edelbrock on 12psi and e85, if you don't ever launch the car the half shafts will be fine, they handle rolls, they just won't like launching from a dig on a surface that hooks. Also the guy with 400 passes looks to have a 6r80, those rarely break half shafts, the 10r80 snap them a lot easier, especially in 1st gear

Seems the drivers side is the one that breaks, I plan on going boost so I’m replacing my left axle with the GT350 axle, I’m an Auto

Thanx Kona. What fuel setup do u run? Are u manual? I know we both went Edelbrock around the same time but I don't post a lot. I actually haven't driven my car since June! I have a job in Italy can't wait to see what all has been changed with the tune. Not like I'll remember anyway after driving these underpowered cars.

Yes Im 6r80. But its also stalled. It'll cut a 1.47 sixty. I believe it's the wheel hop that breaks the axles. More so than hooking. That why you see the manual guys have less breakages on slicks. Than drag radials. If and when these stock axles do give out. Ill replace with GT350 axles. But to me its just not a part worry about. The only extra expense is a tow. If one doe break.

I ordered G-force renegades for mine, don't feel like dealing with towing the car 150 miles back home from the track, nor do I trailer it there

I have a auto, but first gear is locked out. I run a jn2ning fuel system, it's a single regulator kit and has been working great for me

we have guys running stock shafts for years, and we have guys breaking the first time out. bad wheel hop will brake even the strongest shaft, so you want to work on the wheel hop too.

we are running dss and gforce for the holiday, feel free to hit me up with any questions you have!

It doesn't appear G-Force lists a power number anymore, however the say the Renegades are stronger than the 850hp half-shaft they replaced, but not as strong as the Outlaws, So presume 1100-1200hp.

As for the stock axles and a manual tranny.. A local guy broke an axle on his 2018 this past summer trying to launch harder to keep up with our A10's. He was running E85 and a drag radial, he was doing a 6k clutch dump and snap..

Hmmmmm, u auto guys have me thinking of saving my moola, since adding the BMR cradle lockout and using drag radials my A10 has NO, NONE, ZERO wheel hop?

I may just run the car until it breaks or if it breaks

What’s about driveshafts, how many of you are in the stock shaft? I assume at least your running a loop?
