Hood struts...

Yeah, thats a bummer. I guess I can buy them then take off the sticker. Honestly, cutting the hole in the side will bother me too, bc I just bought this thing, and it was expensive!! lol
Guys,
It’s a rubbery plastic cover, the hole is nothing, for what you gain in a proper hood strut that should have been on the car in the first place. Drill the hole.

Is that the redline? Looks nice and great hood stance. Any problems with hood closing and edges sticking up?

Yes they are Redlines. I got them when JLT was still painting parts. No issues at all.

Ford only for me.

Did you have to make any modifications to the Ford Performance hood struts to get them to fit? Multiple resellers claim on their websites that these do not fit GT350s... I've wondered about why they wouldn't fit, or whether they merely say that because the OEM Ford description does not list these as correct fitments for GT350s.

They look like a straight up bolt on. But I agree, Ford Performance does not advertise the FP hood struts as compatible to GT350, only GT, EcoBoost.

@Orcagt,
Is your car a GT or 350? Thanks.

Two kits in one . I wanted the Ford Performance struts. I like the idea of using only Ford parts.

Redline + Ford performance.

You just change the struts. Yes I know it’s double the price.

Installed Redline in SS. I had black ones on previous car and they started to show their age after few years....so trying the SS. Peeled decals and then used goo gone to remove sticker goo and the additional stamped imprint.

Just purchased my car a week ago tomorrow. Found out must close the hood from a high distance for it to actually close. I've bought some Redline Hood Struts but fear it wont close hard enough to actually close the hood properly. Anyone had issues with hood closing properly once installed?

Its just a plastic cover.....my 350 has 200 mils on it....the struts should be factory.

whats shitty is the damn push pins cracked when i removed them soo now i have new rivets coming monday.

I bought the RedLines @ Carlisle this summer...RedLine tech mentioned that indeed they supply Ford. Also mentioned that the current RedLine struts have been improved/revised a few times over the ones they supply to Ford.

How's this for OCD: I have the Redline premiums but disliked that its bright work (stainless) on the otherwise muted gray, black, and kona blue colors under my hood.....the engine is the star of the show not some utility hood struts that Ford Performance should have made stock. Anyway it turns out Redline sells real carbon-fiber exposed-weave outer-tubes that the strut cartridge slips into. Black would have been fine as the CF weave is a bit hokey but I got them - there are also soft plastic endcaps to dress the ends. Clean - nicer for my aesthetics than stainless <shrug> So I didn't bother peeling the labels. I would prefer FP have made struts stock but since they didn't this is as understated as one can get, yet wile being stainless, now that FP no longer resells Ford branded GT350 hood struts.

I do not like drilling holes in things either but I'd buy the hood struts and just buy a new oem battery cover
