Don't you also need the throttle body open when cranking? Or does it default open when cranking since it is DBW?

Edit - I guess removing all the spark plugs before beginning compression test does essentially the same thing. I've only removed one at a time when checking compression.
Remove all, it will help with spinning the engine better, as compression will be there otherwise.. slowing down you rotation and putting stress on the electric starter.

I don't think throttle body open matters with DBW... not sure on it though. I know it worked fine on my car but I kept the gas floored anyway when testing.

ONE FIX FOR WIRING DIAGRAMS NOT OPENING

I bought the Helm CD and tried to install it on my Windows 10 laptop.
It installs, bitches that Acrobat 5.0 and SVG Viewer 3.0 is not installed.
If you say go ahead and install, it just proceeds doing nothing.

And then, it will launch, give you a menu, but you're very lucky if you can view anything. Clicking on a wiring diagram does a Please wait, loading and it will sit there all night doing that. i know, I tried it.

I'm going to ask for my money back.

FWIW,
Kirby
Yeah, I know it’s been 9 months but in case you still have the CD or anyone else has this problem (wiring diagrams not opening up), here’s a fix that worked for me:
Leave CD in drive-do not open the program
Navigate to the cd drive in Windows Explorer
Click on CD drive
Click on Tools folder
Click on Adobe folder
Click on Winnt folder
Click on SVGVIEW. DO NOT CLICK ON SVGVIEWFR
Run what opens. Process should take under a minute, there may or may not be more prompts/confirmation windows.
Open the manual, accept any new licensing agreements...

(I got this from going through Helm. They want your order number, daytime phone that they send along to Ford [according to Helm]. A person calls you back and walks you through the above procedure.)

If it doesn't work, dual booting your Mac may be a solution for ya.

Helm knows it won't run on new laptops that have the latest intel processor. There install was written for Win NT. It runs on my desktop with NVIDIA card but not my surface. They don't care to fix it. I spent three days with there text support, none of them are programmers. CRAPPY

I can understand that but my laptop is about 8 years old running a Core i3 cpu running an intel graphics card from just after Y2K:D....

The fix I wrote above worked perfectly!!

that about sums it up, you can move it to your hard drive but if running new hardware you can't view wiring diagrams the other two sections work. The SVG viewer is obsolete and makes hardware calls not supported any more and HELM is to lazy to fix it.

That works! Just tried it and it worked fine on an HP Pavilion dm4 running the latest and greatest Windows 10.

Thanks! I was ready to chuck the CD in the trash.

This may work for some of you but not the latest Skylake or kabylake Intel processors. Won't run on Surface pro 4 skylake

I went to the Helm Inc website today and couldn't find the CD available anymore....

Anyone know differently?

If you're looking for a Service Manual, this site still advertises them for the Mustang:
