I know i'm posting on an old topic and thread but I absolutely prefer the 13-14 GT's over the S550's and the only reason i even own an 18 GT is because of the performance. frankly i think the S550 looks like the S197's fat older sister.

Well you know what they say about opinions.

taste is subjective..and opinions are just opinions... i don't like the fast and furious themed new Camaros either..

I do not currently own a mustang but looking back, I greatly regret trading my 2014 GT in for the 2015 GT. The 2015 definitely did not live up to the hype imo.

OK, I'll jump in on this. I had a '14 GT with a Brembo package, nav, Recaros, and the 6-speed manual, and I liked it, but I like my '18 more. My girlfriend liked the looks of the '14 better, but I think it's mostly because of the darker blue color it had (DIB vs. Lightning Blue), but agrees that the '18 interior is much, much better. I've got the A10 on the '18, and it just feels faster, more planted, better ride, and as said before, nicer to be in. The digital dash is cool too.

2020 Mustang GT 6spd base
I'll add another datapoint here.

Bought my Kona Blue 2011 GT 6spd base Brembo package back in 2010, optional 3.55 axle.

Bought my Kona Blue 2020 GT 6spd base in May 2020.

The 2011 got some mild suspension upgrades, 285 square rubber, Boss 302 exhaust, tune.

2020 has gotten the PP bracing/chin spoiler/undertray, 4.09 ring and pinion, tune, ran the same 285 wheels/tires until a couple weeks back.

Handling- 2011 felt much lighter and more agile....it also felt more jittery and spooky if the pavement wasn't perfect. 2020 feels much more "civilized" and predictable but also much more sloppy. I think I would be about the same through an autocross course with either one.

Acceleration - about equal. The 2011 was down 50hp (at the crank) but you wouldn't know it. The 2020 is handicapped due to the gear ratios in the latest version of the MT82 but the 2011 got the same or slightly better fuel economy so that gear ratio change for the 2020 makes no sense. After the 4.09 swap, I would give the edge to the 2020 but it's only slight.

Interior-the S197 is just old. It was fine for its day. Seats were comfortable, shifter was in the right spot. The S550 looks a bit nicer but the dinky screen and cheesy looking buttons of the base model bring it back down to the range of the old S197. It's a wash for me. They're both more than good enough for a base trim level.

I've grown to like my 2020 a lot over recent months but I LOVED my S197 right away. The S550 is a much better car in many ways but it's just not quite as lovable.
