I was running 16.5 psi on both tires and did not heat them up at all via burnout so I am hoping that was my slipping problem. We will see next week.

Had my car out yesterday (2019 GT A10 PP1) at the track. Drag mode, traction control off. Launched around 1k, got a 1.82 sixty foot. Second gear came, the car lost traction during the shift, RPMs got pulled down to 2000, and the car lost all power. Thought I broke an axle, but it was just due to lack of traction on the Michelin tires. I had the PZero's on my 2015 and while the Michelin tires are better, they are not good enough for the violence that drag mode brings.
you need to turn off advancetrac. i run 11.9s in drag mode with sumitomo 275s

I use drag mode for any sort of playing around. Spirited/daily driving, I use track. Sport+, atleast in my car seems to want to hang in a gear way too long. Or..too low of a gear way too long, track is a happier medium IMO. For roll racing, drag mode, select shift, toggle down to the gear I want, nail it, bump it to drive. Keeps the high shift points/pressures. I'm on a 305 nitto 555g2, and have had it break loose shifting into 4th in cooler temps, so that's always exciting.
