What's the difference between the Ultra Platinum and Platinum besides the Ultra costing a little more.
The additives. Marketing wise the difference is that Ultra is for "Extreme Performance".

It may be just labeling running behind or its additive related but the Ultra jugs I have do not show an SN+ rating (better for reducing LSPI). So, Ultra might not be as good as regular for turbo engines in some situations.

pep boys has a 30% off your in-store purchase coupon. Amazon subscribe&save has it listed for $22/5qt bottle. I personally buy 5w30 instead of the thinner stuff.

I bought 2 jugs of 5W30 PUP a few days ago from Walmart for $18.xx each with free delivery (if total over $35). They are getting as bad as Amazon because its $19.xx each today. Don't know why Walmart doesn't show the regular Platinum jugs on-line. I've seen them in the store all the time while I never see the PUP in the stores. Pep Boys has good prices/promotions but doesn't have PUP in store locally or on-line, just regular Platinum.

Also, it looks like Walmart is no longer listed as a participating retailer for the rebate. :frown: Still a good deal for $19.99 for a 5 quart jug.

Guys, all I know is I made a switch from PUP to QSUD, which basically the same stuff with a higher sheer strength, and cheaper. I get the 5w30 at Wally World for about $100 for 6 jugs, plus M1 filters. I always add about 1/2 bottle Ceratec as well, to keep the t-tick in it's place.

Puppy runs like a top.

Well I finally got around to having to change my oil today using the Penz Platinum synthetic that I bought a while back. My OCIs have been around 6k miles with anywhere between 2-15% left on the OLM. So I'm wondering how many more miles the full synth will yield vs. the MC semi-synth? I know the OLM doesn't care...but I do, lol.
BTW, it seemed to idle smoother on the first start up, could just be my imagination though.
And no, I don't bother adding any oil into the that tiny filter like I do on my powerstroke, which is at least 2 quarts worth!
Also, this month marks my stangs 4th birthday, so HBD!!!

Did this my last oil change. At Walmart today, it was under $18 for a 5qt jug which is silly cheap.

Hate Walmart all you want. But go there and you will find synthetic 5-quart jugs at $22-$26 regular price anytime, Mobil1, Valvoline, Penzoil Platinum, Castrol Edge, Quaker.
$28-$30 Mobile 1 One year oil change, $26-$28 Mobil 1 5w-40 euro spec
Sub $20 for Motorcraft semi-synthetic, SuperTech (Wamart brand but full synthetic).

I buy the 6 pack of QSUD 5w30 for $99. With tax and free shipping it comes out to $18/jug. So, $36 + $10 M1 filter, I do my oil changes for about $50 in my garage.

The extra $4 accounts for beer.

I will never be caught out again: Ordered from Walmart online because you can't find this shit anywhere locally.
